For the longest I was taught (and relearned) that if you use “if” in your apology; you’ve made it conditional and thus any harm you inflicted was still hypothetical to the apologizer. Why do people use “if” when people express that you’ve explicitly done something wrong?

.@keybank Not allowing users to paste into password fields discourages the use of password managers, which significantly improve account safety. Please fix that on your website.
