A lot of folks be like: why is @dhh throwing such a hissy fit over the IAP requirements? I'll tell you why: because I am an Apple fan that tracks Apple news *every day*, and I had *no idea* that Apple was cracking down on indie SaaS apps without IAP subs. This is NEW for 2020.
Employees at Crisis Text Line sent the board a letter in 2018 detailing racial insensitivity at the company — specifically on the part of the CEO. Not much changed. In 2020, they took much of the same allegations to Twitter, and within days the CEO was fired:

If Aunt Jemima falls, it's only a matter of time until that damn Sambo's on the Oregon coast changes its name. Thank goodness. I cringe every time I drive past that place.

This has got to be one of the stupidest marketing blunders/self-inflicted wounds I've seen from Apple in a long time. Why do they want top-tier indie developers to get pissed at Apple right before the big dev conference?? Is @pschiller asleep at the wheel over there or what?! twitter.com/caseynewton/st…

Um, I'm watching an episode of Star Trek DS9, and the story is about airborne viruses, lockdowns, and quarantines. That is NOT the example of a sci-fi future I was hoping to live through! 🥴😷

I’ve been rethinking my relationship to cooking shows/channels ever since the whole Bon Appétit thing came down. I’m realizing just how *white* all of the things I enjoy are. So, does anyone know any good POC (especially BIPOC) cooking channels/shows I should follow?
Finally watching Beforeigners at the recommendation of friends and it’s pretty damn good

Remember the iPod and iTunes Music Store? Customers were free to download and install music on their iPods, but the iTunes Music Store was still a runaway success. Same would be true for the App Store.
Apple could get itself out of a world of hurt and create a better overall experience if it would allow customers to download and install apps outside the App Store.
This is categorically untrue. But at least the position of the majority of Council, including Wheeler and Hardesty, is now apparent: this is complicated, don't worry about it, take the $15m of nothing reform, and hopefully you'll forget about it by the Fall.
