Excellent @QuarantineBook today. I wouldn’t have gone but saw @mulegirl tweeted “Get in here!” and used an exclamation point. Good thing I did. A treat to listen to @jenmercieca, author, historian of American political rhetoric and expert on demagoguery. jennifermercieca.com

The thing about fires is that they require oxygen to burn. Twitter gives every fire all of the oxygen it’d ever need and more. By design. https://twitter.com/polotek/status/1292920115105734657

Uh oh. Took til 3:30pm for me to realize that today is Monday. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Why do we strongly encourage new developers to do things that are optimized for company interest and not for maintainability of the things they’ll be responsible for years?

I almost livestreamed today but I’ve been sitting at my patio with my laptop and books and it’s just such a nice day - I have no reason to be inside.

One thing that irks me every time that decentralized networks try to tout themselves as “solutions” for the “developing world” (outside of their savior complex of sorts) is the notion that by using it, everyone will automatically be able to connect to things. Peer networking pushes a bit beyond the software stack - there’s actual physical infrastructure that’s required (almost always on access points to do the initial seeding for people) and it implies a sense of “stability” that’s not implied in that part.

Facebook is a cancer.
This is one of my favorite songs of the year. Kareem Ali’s (@Alibabba19) extensive Bandcamp discography is an absolute treasure trove. kareemali19.bandcamp.com/track/when-we-…
