5 of 5 stars to The Pleasant Profession of Robert A. ... by Farah Mendlesohn goodreads.com/review/show/34…

This is still the best anime live action pilot I’ve seen in some time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oPMw8ftL6w. So much fan service, son.

Read this thread. Can't say I’m surprised in the least. I have been and will continue to be _deeply skeptical_ of Gatsby's VC-fueled business trajectory.
Oh hey, the new site is up, which means it's time for A Thread about Gatsby (1/??) twitter.com/GatsbyJS/statu…
😼😼😼 it’s almost like people still have valuable skills to contribute to media if they don’t live in NYC or DC (remember all radio signals are local, don’t pretend they can only be programmed in 2 cities)
With its internships now remote, "NPR received a whopping 20,520 applications for 27 internship positions this fall, compared to 2,597 applications for 55 slots last year...

That one scene in Westworld when Ed Harris/William fights to not get in the car was lowkey emotional.

Today would have been a year at Glitch.

I’m starting to understand the value behind things like IPFS and Dat more. I am always concerned about funding (which is why Dat tends to attract me more and they’re building closer to things I’m more invested in seeing). But the tooling of IPFS looks more attractive.

Time to read.

What’s some new stuff we’re building with the open social Web? Need to cleanse my palette a bit.

The genius of the web is that there are virtually infinite number of ways to design, build, and publish web content and apps. Consolidating power into the hands of a few, even if it's an open source tool, is folly. May a thousand flowers bloom.

“I’m tired of company indifference dictating the developer mindset.”
A bar.

“Worse, if we still want that creativity we create things like scraping and what-not to work-around solved problems. That’s not progress, it’s a shitty hack.”
Yup.

“Our goal is blatantly ambitious: Gatsby is defining next-generation web development itself, to become the standard for how the web is built.” LOLOLOLOLOL Seriously, their marketing materials are so ridiculous and over-the-top. Barf.
Wow, an ftp server. How did that work again?

The @mozilla layoffs are sad news. Diversity and competition in the browser ecosystem is important. At the same time, it’s wildly expensive and hard to build and maintain modern browsers. What organizations out there could both do this and be trusted to do it?
