I don’t know why I keep following Gruber when he’s like a paid shill for Apple, lol. It’s like watching a court jester dance for a intolerant king.

Apple isn't walking away. No chance. Epic's position is also now clear – they're not looking to parlay their popularity and position into a special deal. They want to burn it all down for the benefit of the whole market. 🍿🍿🍿

Apple refused to settle the ebook antitrust case. Tim felt Apple was in the right and was willing to take it all the way to the end. Apple lost, has to pay for a special ...

How sensitive is sensitive?

Same. I lost like actual data working on Windows 10 recently which got me frustrated and switched back to Ubuntu. That combined with needing things like a usable terminal emulator, native Docker support, etc. https://twitter.com/tmcw/status/1294000644408225792

Apple could avoid all of this smoke/fire by simply allowing people to install software on their devices outside of the app store. Compete on privacy, security, curation, and convenience, UX, and you'll win. Their hard line on this has always been foolish, in my view.
For what its worth, I think Apple and Google should be able to charge 30% and to police their stores w/ reasonable rules. I also think that Google has wisely allowed sideloading of apps, whereas Apple is the only game in town for their platform. That's the crux of the issue IMO.
Oh. So that’s the plan.

Breaking: Apple kicks Fortnite off the App Store theverge.com/2020/8/13/2136…
I don't think this is something that should be lumped into the same bucket of "WTF Apple" as the recent HEY controversy. *Everyone*, and I mean *everyone* knows you can’t just add your own IAP game options in addition to Apple’s. Epic *knew* it would get pulled, no doubt about it twitter.com/cianoconnor/st…

Epic Games with some serious chutzpah taking on Apple and its App Store rules. I am not sure its going to work, but Fortnite is incredibily popular, and kudos to them forcing the issue.

Shots fired! But companies don’t optimize for people - they have industries built around Blink and Webkit, there’s no way Google is going to pull out. https://drewdevault.com/2020/08/13/Web-browsers-need-to-stop.html
