My biggest questions as Apple scales its architecture to pro workloads: (1) is a unified memory architecture going to be able to provide RAM capacity required for Mac Pro? (2) Can Apple provide integrated GPU performance that let’s them ditch third-party GPUs? Should they?
Happy 25th, my love. From living together in manhattan, queens, long beach, huntington and traveling to Barcelona, Australia, Israel and Hawaii - we've done a lot together. Here's to another 25! Love you, lady! instagram.com/p/CHgJ6tJnKnX/

My guess? This first batch of computers with an M1 will be incredibly impressive if compared appropriately to their peer group.

That said, I do think that many early detractors are missing that the M1 isn’t really the same thing as a typical Intel chip. Completely different approach, with many more specialized hardware accelerators. The old clock / core comparison won’t work. Gotta benchmark.
Its really interesting to see all of the reactions to Apple’s first chip for its Mac lineup. I don’t think Apple did itself any favors by presenting glossy, vague graphs to tout performance.

I've been spending a chunk of change every month on a grab bag of cloud VMs for personal use. I also pay for a fast fiber connection through a great local ISP. I could buy a new M1-powered Mac mini and use *that* as a server instead of VMs, saving $$$ in the long run. đŸ€”đŸ€”đŸ€”

New post: fluffy rambles: Port Angeles day 3 beesbuzz.biz/blog/9094-Port
Today the weather cleared up so I finally went hiking for an hour or so. Only one trailhead I could find was open from the Port Angeles side of the forest (most of the roads into the forest were closed due to

When will people stop being surprised that Google torpedoes its services? Outrage is no longer a logical response. Same with Netflix’s approach to its original content. They show you who they are with every action. I don’t get angry, I just temper my trust and expectations. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž
I honestly feared Trump was going to win reelection, and then his disastrous first debate performance happened and in my mind that was the moment the tides shifted. I don't know if polling after the fact reflects that notion, but I sure feel like Biden's momentum grew big time.
We’ve been waiting *years* it feels like to reach a moment when the bubble of invincibility finally bursts and Trumpism is exposed. I think the debate moment where he ...

Trump has made many an enemy of The Military, who are *not* suckers & losers. And, many will never forgive him for abandoning our allies, The Kurds.
