Jeff Dean was supposed to speak with Google Research this week to celebrate this past year. On Friday, he canceled the meeting, saying "a celebration doesn't seem appropriate at this time." Here's how he addressed @timnitGebru's firing (or as he says, "departure"):

I genuinely love The Mandalorian.
There’s no question that the second trilogy had its moments, but I think it was, overall, a failure. Don’t get me started on the prequels.
The Mandalorian is so much fun that I’m optimistic about future Star Wars content.
Who would’ve guessed?
