There are those of us who read a lot of mid 20th century writing who remember similar clueless handwringing over “the servant problem”, and they didn’t even have a pandemic to blame. Just shitty working conditions, exemptions from social insurance, and historically low pay.

We got HTML5 ~10 years ago. It was a *huge* accomplishment and leap forward for the web.
And then…crickets. Progress on HTML nearly stalled. DOM APIs evolved, yes. JS & CSS: massive growth. Markup? <😕>
I really hope to see this turn around. Declarative WC specs would be epic.
