I have a lot of mixed feeling about this: some schadenfreude, some grief at the disintegration of a service I\u2019ve spent nearly 15 years on, some anger and disgust at how Muskrat has handled the entire situation. It\u2019s a train wreck I\u2019ve had a lot of trouble looking away from.\n\n\n\nI suppose it\u2019s worth clarifying: I realize the service itself is still technically functioning (there\u2019s been some degradation in some areas, but the core service is marching along). But it feels\u2026 well:\n\n\n\n\n\nI\u2019ve never gotten to experience what it\u2019s like to play an MMO in its final days but I imagine it would be a lot like how Twitter feels right now.\u2014 The Dev Team (@DevTheGuy) November 10, 2022\n\nThat\u2019s the vibe. In some ways the chaos is actually fun, but in a \u201clast days of summer\u201d sort of way.\n\n\n\nSO, I\u2019ve dusted off my Mastodon account, and have been using FediFinder to pull in as many people from my Twitter lists as I can. It\u2019s been a while coming (I\u2019ve talked about this <a href=\"https://nadreck.me/2018/08/twitter-departures/\">several</a> <a href=\"https://nadreck.me/2019/01/the-new-social-media/\">times</a> <a href=\"https://nadreck.me/2019/01/hurdles-to-a-new-social-web/\">before</a>, for what it\u2019s worth). I have a lot of mixed feeling about this: some schadenfreude, some grief at the disintegration of a service I\u2019ve spent nearly 15 years on, some anger and disgust at how Muskrat has handled the entire situation. It\u2019s a train wreck I\u2019ve had a lot of trouble looking away from.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suppose it\u2019s worth clarifying: I realize the service itself is still technically functioning (there\u2019s been some degradation in some areas, but the core service is marching along). In some ways the chaos is actually fun, but in a \u201clast days of summer\u201d sort of way.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>SO, I\u2019ve dusted off my <a href=\"https://xoxo.zone/@Nadreck\">Mastodon</a> account, and have been using <a href=\"https://fedifinder.glitch.me\">FediFinder</a> to pull in as many people from my Twitter lists as I can. (It\u2019s pretty straightforward: link your twitter account and your mastodon account, and then it searches your follows for mentions of their mastodon account, and builds a CSV file that Mastodon can then import automagically.)</p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next steps is figuring out how to get everything hooked up so I can cross-post effectively, in a non-shitty way. I\u2019m sure there are already plugins to do it, but figuring out which one to go with I suspect will be a little trial and error.
