Simple hashtag proposal for dates: datetags for the #indieweb

In summary by example:
* #2026_08_04 ISO8601 YYYY_MM_DD date of this post
* #2026_216 ISO8601 YYYY_DDD ordinal date of this post
* #2026_08 ISO8601 YYYY_MM month of this post

Many of us posting on the indieweb often post about things in the past. Photos, events, or sometimes throwback posts. Hashtags communicate and aggregate what posts are about. Posts about the past are usually about a specific date in the past, or sometimes an entire month. Thus it makes sense to use hashtags for those dates and months.

I have been hashtagging such posts about the past for several years, and with some iteration have developed a convention that works for international readability, and is linked and indexed in #federated #hashtag systems like #ActivityPub (e.g. #Mastodon etc.) and #ATProto (e.g. #Bluesky etc.).

Examples of posts 10 years ago and this past week that use datetags:
* https://tantek.com/2016/153/t4/june — monthtag and datetag
* https://tantek.com/2026/215/t1/watched-odyssey-metreon-70mm-imax — normal and ordinal ISO8601 dates.

Additional possibilities to explore:
* yeartags — hashtags for entire years
* timetags — hashtags for specific times, undated/floating times

After several web searches I didn’t find any prior proposals for hashtags for dates or times. Hopefully by hashtagging this post, future web searches will find this proposal.

📀 watched “The Dark Knight” on Blu-ray, still holds up.

I saw it in the Metreon IMAX theater when it came out in 2008. About 28 minutes of it was filmed in 70mm film using IMAX cameras. The movie switched aspect ratios when it switched from IMAX to normal film. The 2-Disc Special Edition Blu-ray also switched aspect ratios roughly at similar times. Nice to see that that was preserved.

The movie has incredible pacing. No extra moments. I had forgotten how many quotes originated from The Dark Knight. https://enwp.org/The_Dark_Knight

There is one particular thing in Silo that I think they could do that would really redeem my biggest gripe with the season, so hopefully I’m right.

Silo just dropped the biggest bomb in the series thus far. Cards on the table! Next week should be a fun one, and then it’s a race to the finish in the final season. Still don’t love some of the adaptation choices, but some of them are starting to make sense…

I'm slowly closing in on a completist collection of Royal standard typewriters.  Here's most of my collection so far. Only a few major must haves left, but also still a few to finish refurbishing. Seven are fully refurbished, though two still need some small tweaks; all type but two need some reasonable work, and the rest need a full clean/oil/adjust. A wire metal shelving unite on concrete in front of a grassy yard with some bushes and flowers in the background. On the 5 shelves are a collection of Royal Standard typewriters with three on each shelf except the top which only has two. From bottom to top, left to right: 1935 H (with 5 key decimal tabulator), 1935 KH, 1936 KHM; 1945 KMM, 1946 KMM-18 (with a 10-key decimal tabulator), 1950 KMG-P; 1950 KMG-E, 1955 HHE, 1954 HHS (pica double gothic); 1957 FPP (cameo pink smooth), 1961 FPE (sandstone), 1959 FPP (sea blue smooth); 1960 FPE (light green smooth), 1961 FPS-18 (clarion double gothic, pearl light gray smooth). Anyone with a nice Royal 10, please inquire within. Two new additions to the Royal FP collection this year give me most of the major colors. Anyone want to join me for a type in?  A dining room table with two rows of Royal FP standard typewriters set up for use. In the background are two different bookcases and a library card catalog with a flower arrangement next to a black typewriterOverhead view of five Royal FP standard typewriters in pink, yellow, green, blue, and a pearl-gray.

1971 was a year of change. It brought out boxier typewriter designs like the dense plastic body shells of this French manufactured Hermes 3000 and a very similar, but rarer Sears Newport, which was manufactured by Messa in Portugal.
