Hey Jeena, Because of the way Micro.blog is architected, it treats original posts and replies differently. It should be sending webmentions for original posts, but it doesn’t currently send webmentions to posts that are in reply to other posts. I think there also might be a potential issue if you haven’t verified your domain. Besides that, it should work.

I had a look into my logs and it looks like #Micro.blog doesn't send any webmentions to my site when someone comments, which is a pity, because when I trigger it manually, their comment shows up nicely on my website.

Improving my Grav templates

A couple of back-burner projects are simmering nicely. Mapping I wrote about recently.1 Today I turned back to working on micropub to add posts to this site. I have now worked out how to send two different kinds of post to two different places in the file system. Both are what you might call notes (indeed I call them Notes) but some are little status update notes and others are bookmarks.2 The way Grav works is that each file lives in a folder and Grav uses a specific template to display the contents of the file. I wanted a way to visually distinguish the two kinds of note; I chose different icons in the title. More this way ...

The power of self-publishing - HankChizlJaw

This is something I struggle to articulate to friends who are suffering because they feel tied to silos like Facebook and Twitter:

What self-publishing does is provide me a choice, which makes me feel good. I feel like I can step away from platforms at will and I don’t feel as shackled as I have done previously.

I’ll try to write up a blog post about it tomorrow. The short version which will sound super jargon heavy: I use the IndiePaper service to parse the page and send content to my Microsub Server, Aperture. I use a Microsub Notifier app that watches for new posts in my saved channel, and sends those posts to my Kindle email.

Things are getting pretty cool with a combination of Micropub and Microsub compatible tools and services I have complete control over my own reading list (bye bye Instapaper and Pocket) and it even pushes the articles to my Kindle!
@Christo37433424 Your logs or even database may indicate better where it came from, but most likely it's a malformed received webmention or one without data. I've seen one or two in the wild, but unsure what may have caused it.
I thought it might be from me, https://boffosocko.com/2018/09/04/my-first-experience-with-indieweb-christopher-tomilson/ but the dates don't align.

Going to IndieWeb Summit 2018

What I did Sep1 - Sep7

Indieweb-stuff:

  • Tried to federate my indiewebsite so that I could interact with mastodon through it (unsuccessfully)

  • Hacked together a websub hub which passes all of the websub.rocks tests.

  • Rebuilt large chunks of my site---particularly the back-end---so that the posting interface is nicer and easier to test.

  • Factored out my markdown albums, webmentioning, and hashtag extensions into separate repos which I can independently maintain.

  • Hooked up webmentions again so that I can see webmentions as part of an ongoing effort to improve usability of federation.

  • Hooked up in_reply_to again, so that I can send webmentions. This also lets me reply-tweet using brid.gy

  • Started posting albums and articles I'd held off on posting.

Reading:

  • Research proposals from different disciplines to figure out how I want to structure my candidacy document.

  • Bickhard's interactivism and process metaphysics

  • Anthony Chemero's take on representationalism

Other stuff

  • Karaoke 🎤
  • Symphony under the sky
  • Knitting an aran sweater I designed
  • Yoga 🧘
