For now I have to put webmentions aside.</p>",

Over on his blog he\u2019s telling the story of Play Vicious and the challenges he, MarciaX, and the site\u2019s members faced.\n\n\n\nRecuerda PV : Chapter 1 - The Start, Part 1\nRecuerda PV : Chapter 2 - The Start, Part 2\n\nI had long become accustomed to navigating primarily white and male spaces, the demographic over-represented in the tech industry, so I had a frame of reference for what to expect as I logged into my first Mastodon instance.\n\nLooking back, I can\u2019t say it was a terrible experience overall, but what surprised me was how concentrated the monoculture of white men of various tech skill levels present. It was aggressively white.\n\n\nI\u2019m one of the cishet white dudes that populate the spaces that Ro is talking about. I\u2019ve tried over the years to be pull in more and more voices from outside that bubble though, including some time where PV was one of my main social spaces. I didn\u2019t say much, I just tried to follow along and get a sense of what folks were talking about and where they were coming from \u2013 and I count myself fortunate that Ro and MarciaX were always welcoming.\n\nSince returning to the mastodon/fediverse (with Twitter\u2019s enflam\u00e9) I\u2019ve been keeping my eyes out for how and where I can be a more effective advocate for making the fediverse a more safe space; still with a main goal to doing a lot of listening rather than speaking.",

        "html": "Since my last attempt at developing a Hugo theme for my homepage got bogged down in faffing about with presentation before I'd got anything close to a structure in place, I'm forcing myself to develop this next one differently. I started with a tree-view sketch of how I wanted to organize content, imported <span class=\"h-card\"><a class=\"u-url\" href=\"https://fosstodon.org/users/kev\">@<span>kev</span></a></span>'s <a href=\"https://simplecss.org/\">simple.css</a>, and am strictly prohibiting myself from messing with CSS until I've got a reasonable handle on the the basic structure of the site.<br /><br />The contents of the menu can change\u2014let me just make a menu for now.<br /><br />I'm definitely going to change how tags are displayed\u2014but first, let me get them displaying at all.<br /><br />Turns out, maintaining a bit of focus discipline like this can help me get a lot more done!
