@mzagaja Definitely. What I like about the #indieweb approach is that it's publish once and syndicate everywhere else. So the blog is the central point of ownership and control, traffic levels not as important.

Interesting factoid - my search clicks on YouTube are over 100k !

I am on my way!! 10 clicks in the last month! :) #indieweb

Just deleted the app. FWIW, I’ll delete my DMs later and stop using it. Twitter is literally *not the same network anymore* and, at this point, it’s not a community I want to be part of. It doesn’t deserve out time and attention – regardless of our follower counts.

Let’s sink that ship into the depths of irrelevance – where it belongs.

If you want to back up your tweets, use Tweetback by @zachleat et al.:

@smallcircles Interesting. Currently I’m of the opinion that search is fine (for the same reason #IndieWeb blogposts may be searched and indexed), which is why I currently say that my toots are CC-BY-SA 4.0, but I’ll read up on that thread.

The other day, my #blog published a post about using @eleventy to generate #Netlify scheduled functions, using those same generated functions!

Dear Microsoft,

It's MY computer, not yours.

I'll do whatever I damn please with my own property.

Take your smart app control, trusted platform module, pluton security chip, and your mandatory front facing webcam, and shove them all straight up your...

Have a nice day.

Content warning: Long-Winded Introduction

10 PRINT "Hello World!"

#Introduction

Hi, I'm Bob. AKA 0x3b0b or 3b0b (both of which I also pronounce Bob) since shortly after #defcon in 2021; I use the (UTF codepoint 3B0B) ideograph in a lot of places to continue the theme because that's the kind of sense of humor I have. (I haven't found any indication of it being offensive - it apparently means "name of a star" which I think is pretty cool.)

I've been in #softwaredevelopment professionally since 2005. The interest started with a Commodore 64 when my age was in single digits, but I wasn't one of those prodigies writing full-fledged programs as a kid; prior to high school I only dabbled.

I'm a #ttrpg nerd; #discgolf player; #symphonicmetal, #sciencefiction and #fantasy fan; and dabbler in #infosec and #devsecops, as an extension of an interest in #devops acquired as a programmer. I've been meaning to get into #ActivityPub and #IndieWeb for years now and I'm finally getting around to it - I've got an article in the works about why (and why now), and about how I'm setting it up. I look forward to seeing how wrong I manage to get it.

My website is running microblog.pub, which means it can act as a citizen of both the Indieweb and the Fediverse; but I'm running the dev version, and I'm not sure what it can and can't do, so I will be experimenting with how to use it in combination with other services and my Disroot account. While I'm working on that, content may or may not be syndicated, and likes/replies/etc. on syndicated content may or may not be backfed to my site.

I’m bringing TWITIWAE back! It’s your < 10min update on the #IndieWeb community!

1. Yes - I am in a lot of slacks regularly, and some discord too, and some WhatsApp and a telegram.
2. I co-moderate the indieweb chat.
3. Chat is good for discussion and bad for reference. Email is bad at both. The way we square the circle in #IndieWeb is to have an associated wiki to document things that can be referred to, and a bit that couples between the chat and the wiki to make that easier and more useful.

Playing with ActivityPub

And that's it. A failure for the #openWeb and the #indieWeb to gain traction reduces the opportunity for innovation in a vicious circle that ends up affecting not only the ones that (wrongly) couldn't care less about it, but also the ones that do. The wane in #Mastodon's growth isn't something to despair about, but it isn't anything to celebrate either.

Are there any #WordPress or #IndieWeb heads who can help me out? Site Health is saying the authorization header was not returned, even though I added the requisite line (the second one, actually) to my .htaccess file ages ago. Is this a ‘talk to my host’ issue?

Does anyone have recommendations for open-source self-hosted web-based photo gallery software that can be secured behind some kind of authentication & authorization mechanism? i.e. I'd like to be able to share specific groups of photos with specific people.

This essay is timely with the reawakening of the web as #IndieWeb and the #fediverse. We see it in the blank incomprehension of those used to the silos of adtech hegemony when confronted by an actual complex distributed structure and how it responds to their appeals to authority or conspiracy theories.

ugh... I'd noticed the change in behavior for following links to posts and profiles *within* the web app on #Mastdodon 4, but I hadn't looked to see that the *actual* post and profile web pages do not actually contain the post or profile content, just JavaScript and the metadata to load it.

In essense, Mastodon profiles and posts are no longer actually interoperable parts of the web. Or as #indieweb puts it: #jsdr

Likewise, I wonder about adding ?utm_source=indieweb to my outgoing #indieweb website links. One domain is a single referrer that shows up in logs; if a bunch of us do that, it's clear that it's a movement.

@albinanigans signing into things with a URL that is your own is a good idea, but OpenID drifted from that into a mess of confusing specs, and got deprecated. OAuth solves the same broad goal, but also drifted a bit so that it ends up being different for each provider.
IndieAuth is an OAuth based model for doing what OpenID originally did. https://indieweb.org/Indieauth #IndieWeb

Tried to have a conversation with a caller regarding my technical background... he of course, wasn't up for hearing how I first entered the server admin sector around ten years ago, now, so while I'm not as seasoned as some of my fellow builders in the #Indieweb community, I'm getting a little time on me now. And with the fast pace of tech these days, that isn't always such a good thing.
