Post-Christmas and between the years I promise that I’ll find time to rebuild my website. Promise promise promise. #indieweb

So, I guess I should do an introduction here. I'm a software developer, mostly frontend but backend as well. Big fan of CSS. I have a personal site, but it is sorely needing an rewrite.
Current project is making a weaving draft editor for the web: https://jrende.xyz/weaver

@futurebird I never stopped using RSS since it's inception around 2003, it's been my news reader ever since.

Over the years I split my interest over a number of #FreshRSS self-hosted accounts and via the #indieweb movement reconnected with blogs and writers, people's web..

On the side I've also used the platforms both for work/private.

RSS is the one single thing that I kept doing all along and ever more now, we can do this!

In my most recent newsletter I wrote about online resilience. This is the idea of owning your own spaces online to become less vulnerable when websites and social media platforms implode.

About preparing now so you won't suddenly lose your content and contacts later.

Given current events you may be in a state of mind where the content resonates with you. The post has some practical advice on how you can build your own online resilience.

I've been a web developer a long time and this is another all time banner day for why it's good to set up independent websites.

management is after even linktree .. but they are not banning links. it's all one off domain bans. let a thousand linktrees flourish

Introducing Indiekit: The IndieWeb for Everyone paulrobertlloyd.com

What are the best user tracking alternatives in the web space? I need one for my web page but I refuse to use Google Analytics.

After a bit of experimentation and tinkering tonight, it appears that one can use their #WordPress website to create threaded conversations on #Mastodon (and likely other portions of the #Fediverse) using the IndieWeb syndication strategy of POSSE with backfeed of comments using #Webmention and Brid.gy. I’d outlined the process using Twitter in the past, and the same principles seem to work well for Mastodon. #IndieWeb #FTW #FediTips

Congratulations to @paulrobertlloyd on the launch of getindiekit.com.… It’s an incredibly polished and well-designed #indieweb tool. If you’re thinking of setting up a personal website (you should!) then you should definitely be checking out Indiekit.

@chrisaldrich Another #IndieWeb question for you! I'm syndicating blog posts from kfitz.info to Mastodon, where they appear from @kfitz@kfitz.info, and then I boost from this account. Replies to @kfitz@kfitz.info appear as comments to the blog post, as desired. But if I reply to the comment on the blog, that reply doesn't syndicate here, so the commenter doesn't know. And if I reply to the comment here, the reply comes from this account (and I'm not yet sure whether it appears as a reply on the blog or not). How do you manage this?

Fun fact: You can use @wallabag to save web content for later reading, and use its built-in RSS feeds with Calibre to generate your own Saturday morning ebook of articles you saved during the week.

Advanced mode: I use Huginn to pull newsletters from my email (e.g. Matt Levine) and push to Wallabag. Result: Matt Levine on my Kindle!
