"Are you concerned that the workload of Mastodon instance admins since the mass exodus from Twitter will be more than some can handle, leading to shutdowns that leave a lot of users frustrated? Being decentralized is great but it depends on tireless and sometimes thankless work from the volunteers running the instances."

@darnell @Kichae @trevorflowers yeah exactly lolll. like he tweeted about #indieweb months ago for Tumblr and internally I ran with it. started talking with folks, had some calls, came up with a plan... and then nothing. never got engineers or funding.
there seems to be more momentum for AP, so we'll see. but Matrix?? lollllll
also I have a Matrix server. every time I try to find good public rooms in it's mostly porn or crypto scams lol

Hello @Gargron I am just curious whether you believe this issue will be reconsidered - https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12915. The workaround doesn't work for me and it would be nice to have this feature work in #bridgy for #wordpress and #mastodon.#indieweb

Mastodon breaks with my adherence to POSSE (Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere) so I've been doing weekly digests to be sure I have a record of things I can be confident in lasting. Embedding makes it easier for posts I shared, and I can add in my own stuff properly included in the blog entry. Here's what I made this week:

Wanna set this up yourself? If you have a static site, it's pretty easy!
Just download your current Mastodon account's webfinger response, e.g. for my account here this is: https://botsin.space/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:ryanfb@botsin.space
Now, just make this file available at yourdomain.example/.well-known/webfinger, and all Mastodon searches for accounts on your domain will respond with your current profile!
(I also edited the "subject" field in mine to use e.g. "acct:ryan@ryanfb.xyz" which is maybe not necessary)
