If you've seen my blog post about creating pixelated rounded corners with CSS clip-path (https://lukeb.co.uk/blog/2022/01/17/pixelated-rounded-corners-with-css-clip-path/), you'll have seen my little embedded demos.
A lot of folks use 3rd party widgets from sites like Codepen to do this, but I wanted to have it as part of my site, so I built it into my @eleventy site.
I've now turned it into a plugin so you can use it on your own site!

Just FYI https://watzek.dev is now powered by @eleventy version 2 (beta đ ) and @vite.
The only complicated thing was switching to Vite because of how my previous webpack build was set up. The Eleventy Vite plugin https://github.com/11ty/eleventy-plugin-vite does a great job combining both tools.

The upside to #layoffs is I should have some more time to work on side projects like building sites and #lego and getting involved with #indieweb / #SmallWeb.
The downside is that eventually I'll have to get another job or something. This was my first time with a real tech company and I sure got the full experience.

I wanted to change my SharePoint URL to my tmichellemoore.com URL or at least tmichellemoore. Well, to change a SharePoint URL it takes a lot of steps that I donât do on a day to day basis. @mledu Yeah I do see it happening. All I can say is as a reader, I'm so turned off by the bland content that I'm running away from Google results. I see a completely different content ecosystem currently developing. Currently, it exists in newsletters, substacks #Fediverse and the #IndieWeb . #Mastodon is part of this evolution.
There could be a time when there will be a content ecosystem for corporations/marketing and another one just for private individuals.

* I agreed, and wrote up a draft algorithm^3

Just want to say that while my posts tend to skew #IndieWeb & #Fediverse I do not think that folks that work in companies like #Google #Facebook #Twitter & other corporate-owned #SocialMedia platforms are evil folks (Most of them, anyway!).
I once worked for a #Malaysian newspaper with such a rep that when I told people I was working there, they always make a point to tell me they've stopped reading my paper. đ
I know what it's like to be tarred with the same brush.

Here's my list for January, 2023.Apps + WebsitesPermission Slip. \u201cIt\u2019s no secret that a huge number of companies are collecting, buying and selling data about us. Find out what information they collect, and take action to help protect yourself.\u201d An app by Consumer Reports that checks to see which businesses hold data about you - and then helps you to remove it. Great stuff.BooksFictionThe Kaiju Preservation Society, by John Scalzi. This was written as catharsis after the stress and trauma of 2020-21, and reading it was equally cathartic. The author calls it a pop song of a book, and that\u2019s exactly right. It might not be Bach but it has a good beat and I\u2019ll be humming it for months. If you\u2019re looking for catharsis too, you could do much, much worse.NonfictionRest Is Resistance: A Manifesto, by Tricia Hersey. In a lot of ways best read as a kind of sermon on self-sovereignty, Rest is Resistance is a treatise on fighting back against grind culture and prioritizing your needs over the needs of the exploitative economic system you happen to live in. So many of these harmful ideas are baked into American culture; so much so that some of the pleas here might seem obvious to foreign ears. Nonetheless, we need more of this work, and I found this book to be both affirming and necessary.Notable ArticlesAIThe generative AI revolution has begun\u2014how did we get here? \u201cBut there was also a surprise. The OpenAI researchers discovered that in making the models bigger, they didn\u2019t just get better at producing text. The models could learn entirely new behaviors simply by being shown new training data. By the time it gets to Friday, you are disturbed from thinking through that picture.\u201d\u201dI asked Chat GPT to write a song in the style of Nick Cave. \u201cChatGPT has no inner being, it has been nowhere, it has endured nothing, it has not had the audacity to reach beyond its limitations, and hence it doesn\u2019t have the capacity for a shared transcendent experience, as it has no limitations from which to transcend. ChatGPT\u2019s melancholy role is that it is destined to imitate and can never have an authentic human experience, no matter how devalued and inconsequential the human experience may in time become.\u201dChatGPT in DR SBAITSO. \u201cBut it got me wondering, what if we replaced the internals of DR SBAITSO with ChatGPT but kept the weird synthesized voice?\u201dApple Books quietly launches AI-narrated audiobooks. \u201cAudiobooks narrated by a text-to-speech AI are now available via Apple\u2019s Books service, in a move with potentially huge implications for the multi-billion dollar audiobook industry. In the past two years, we have achieved huge wins together. But unfortunately, the macroeconomic environment has shifted in ways none of us could have foreseen, from an economy in which I did feel like paying you, to one in which I\u2019d rather not.\u201dExtreme questions to trigger new, better ideas. \u201cThe following prompts jostle you out of tiny thinking. If you\u2019re looking for catharsis too, you could do much, much worse.</p><h4>Nonfiction</h4><p><a href=\"https://bookshop.org/a/7949/9780316365215\">Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto, by Tricia Hersey.</a> In a lot of ways best read as a kind of sermon on self-sovereignty, Rest is Resistance is a treatise on fighting back against grind culture and prioritizing your needs over the needs of the exploitative economic system you happen to live in. So many of these harmful ideas are baked into American culture; so much so that some of the pleas here might seem obvious to foreign ears.
