I use the indieweb service Bridgy Fed to federate some select posts from my website (like this one!) to the fediverse. If you click on the permalink for this post, it should take you to the original on my site.

It’s a pretty cool service and builds on some common indieweb building blocks my site already supported, like Webmention.

Listened to Into the Fediverse with Evan Prodromou, co-author of ActivityPub (The Changelog #528) Post details
This week Evan Prodromou is back to take us deeper into the Fediverse. As many of us reconsider our relationship with Twitter, Mastodon has been by-and-large the target of migration. They helped to popularize the idea of a federated universe of community-owned, decentralized, social networks. And, at the heart of it al...

@joel My take (meaning others may take issue with it): different paradigm, but not rival; helper apps available to interoperate w #Fediverse. In #Indieweb, I could be my own island, whereas a federatibg community must exist for Fediverse

A bit confused as to how it interacts with #fediverse - rival paradigms? Interoperable? Just totally different things? #indieweb

Running a #Indieweb #Wordpress site, I am also still trying to determine whether or not I should stick with the classic editor and normal post kinds that go with that, or whether to embrace the new block editor. From an editing and building standpoint, I love what block editing has to offer, but is it going to take a way from the post kinds experience? Also, I'll let you know, but eventually my blog will be a fediverse citizen in itself.

Reading about #IndieWeb today

Fellow #IndieWeb community and anyone that just basically wants an old fashioned page hit counter on their site without relying on #GA4.

Trying out #GoatCounter this evening and it does what I want. It’s #GDPR compliant, too. Nothing fancy, but I don’t need anything fancy. It’s free to use, if you don’t go too crazy with it. And you can alway self host.

This is the final post in my Changing my SharePoint URL project. I used an Azure Virtual Machine to run the SharePoint Online Management Shell to change my SharePoint URL. After scheduling the deletion, it completed and the URL was changed to what I wanted. All of the steps are below.
Thank you to @box464 for the advice. Day 28 of #100DaysofIndieWeb, #IndieWeb, #ProjectJournal, #SharePointThe Final Steps: https://tmichellemoore.com/?p=152704

@vga256 Yes! I’ve also been rebuilding a homepage, I call it my “Classic Homepage Project” and I’m excited to see others making homepages and re-establishing other personal sites. #PersonalSites #IndieWeb

Moderating Mastodon, microsyntaxes, and remembering the W3C SWWG. It’s your < 10min update on the #IndieWeb community!

@charlesroper using NetNewsWire here. Would love some recommendations on good #IndieWeb feeds as just getting back into RSS

@fediversenews @steve @Stark9837 Agreed. #IndieWeb is a good example of a federation that doesn’t use #ActivityPub. You could make a case for #RSS, as well. ActivityPub is my absolute LEAST favorite protocol to work with, but it’s the current darling of the “extended” Fediverse. Some day we may have a better protocol to build upon. But to me too, “The Fediverse” is much bigger than ActivityPub.

This. Right here. This article appears to have been written by someone who didn't even know about #mastodon and the #fediverse, although he mentions #indieweb in passing. It is an in-depth analysis of #platforms, #protocols, #FreeSpeech, #moderation, and the shifting landscape. Given it was in 2019 he certainly didn't predict these things, but it does fit rather well doesn't it? https://knightcolumbia.org/content/protocols-not-platforms-a-technological-approach-to-free-speech

In many ways, the years between 2013 and 2018 were the worst of the #openWeb, with the reduction in browser engine variety (Presto, Trident, even EdgeHTML were all discarded in that timespan), #Firefox giving up on legacy extensions and web feeds, and the #W3C #EME betrayal.

Can we make the years between 2023 and 2028 those of its revival? With the #Fediverse taking shape, a return to prominence of the #indieWeb, and the birth of new protocols like #Gemini, the times seem ripe.

@crschmidt Agree, & I've also found wonderful material on Twitter from 5+ years ago, by searching for people (often historic), places, & topics.
I'd like what I write to be discoverable too! #IndieWeb sounds appealing but complicated. Maybe new formats will emerge for durable content on the Fediverse? Meanwhile I'm keen to find models to format text-&-standard-image-box pages for my own website, in simple html/css rather than anything complicated.
Ideas welcome?

@realn2s @futureclint May I please ask about something simple that I haven't been able to find & don't currently have the skill to write? A model to replicate birdsite/Masto threads in searchable pages on my existing domain, & write blogposts in this format - text & standard 16x9 image boxes - with great modern design, & simple elegant html/css that I can either understand or hope to learn! #IndieWeb connectivity maybe later. Any ideas please? Many of us keen to archive & backup...

I’ve documented how Micro.blog works with the Micropub API’s syndicate-to parameter now that there’s more control over cross-posting. Always feels good to revisit an IndieWeb API.
