Fun facts about Feedly, going indie with 11ty, and bye bye, Twitter API. It’s your < 10min update on the #IndieWeb community!
This Week in the IndieWeb audio edition for April 1st - 7th, 2023. https://martymcgui.re/2023/04/07/this-week-in-the-indieweb-audio-edition--april-1st---7th-2023/
The Fediverse Report continues their great summarization of recent hot topics. On trademarks, Eugen is certainly within his right to trademark Mastodon. I chose not to trademark Micro.blog because it’s too close to microblog, which is a word everyone can use. I also prefer “social web” to fediverse.
hi 👋👋👋
My name is anova, new to sovereign.lgbt but quite old to the fediverse. I like writing code that's ideologically and/or intellectually insulting to computer nerds, recording over recycled cassette tapes, going on bike rides and disrupting power structures.

Twitter is shutting down API access weeks before the deadline they announced and sent to developers.
#IndieWeb service #Bridgy got hit. Just a few minutes ago, #ThreadReaderApp announced their access was terminated as well.

boosting this with the news of the yesterweb community closing down.
in the 32-bit cafe, we're building personal sites & spreading the word about how to grow the independent web with coding, art, and self-expression in an inclusive and positive environment. join us!
Big ups to @snarfed.org and the whole #IndieWeb gang for keeping Bridgy alive and awesome.
This project also exposed a small bug in Whim (https://jmac.org/whim/), my own Webmention tool, which I haven't touched in two years (since coming down with a chronic case of dayjob). I did fix it locally.
By gar, I think I might update an open-source project for the first time since 2021, if I can remember how...
A very lovely #IndieWeb adventure last night. Checked in with Bridgy (https://brid.gy) to see what its Mastodon support looked like these days.
Within *minutes*, I had my personal blog syndicating likes and replies to toots linking to my blog posts. The most recent post at https://fogknife.com demonstrates it.
This was possible because I had long ago set up Fogknife to use Bridgy with Twitter (which no longer works, for guessable reasons). Still, an impressively easy switch-over!
To anyone following me on Twitter, with the Twitter API dying imminently, you'll no longer be seeing posts or interactions from me. In some cases I may manually post replies, but expect my account to be read-only going forwards. You can find me on the Fediverse at @www.jvt.me@www.jvt.me which has a richer set of posts from my site's feed, too 👋🏽
TIL @manton's draft of his #book has been out almost a month already. Read Indie Microblogging! https://book.micro.blog/ #microblog #IndieWeb [Edited: Duh. It's been out almost thirteen months.]
I'd like to be sure that all who follow me in the #Fediverse are aware of https://micro.blog ¶ Please join us on the #IndieWeb (bigger than the Fediverse) ¶ I am there more than I am here ¶ Be prepared to pay $5/month for the product ¶ Obviously I think it's worth it ¶ I've been paying for four years #tbcg0220a
Post once about gray hair on Facebook and suddenly all my ads there are for testosterone and skin care 🙄
Post once about it on fedi and all my ads are ... Oh right, there are no ads!

I was expecting a Webmention-based back end with some help from Brid.gy, but it looks like a API solution hiding under the hood. Clever.

Say it aint so! What a tire fire the bird site has become. I've made so many IRL friends there. The API and 3rd party developers are also what made it great. Sad face. #indieweb | So long, Twitter API, and thanks for all the fish | snarfed.org https://snarfed.org/2023-04-03_so-long-twitter-api-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish (https://techlifeweb.com/blog/2023/2023-04-04-post-1521/)
@SandyO You know, there's a thing called filters...it may benefit you to use it 😆
I talk about #Twitter because I work in and love #Tech and #SocialMedia and #Indieweb dev. You have different interests so pursue them! We don't have to police people's posts on Fediverse
