Those are the three candidates I know have their own personal #website, and was able to verify by searching for candidates on the web, #socialMedia, etc.
Three out of the nine candidates² running for election to the World Wide Web Consortium’s Advisory Board.
As I wrote in my statement:
> “I believe governance of W3C, and advising thereof, is most effectively done by those … who directly use & create on the web using W3C standards. This direct connection to the actual work of the web and W3C is essential to prioritizing the purpose & scope of governance thereof.”
I firmly believe that direct hands-on experience with using the web, beyond reading the web or using someone else’s apps, actually writing to the web, posting on the web, creating for the web, provides better insight into the technologies & standards necessary to evolve the web, how to improve them and represent the communities working on them.
I ask for your support for the Advisory Board, and support for those who create on the web.
If any other candidates have their own #IndieWeb site (or set one up!), and especially if they blog their personal statements, I will gladly link to them as well.

Ever since I read that Bluesky has about 1.9 million folks on the waiting list, I’ve been thinking about what happens as more invites roll out. By comparison: Mastodon has over 7 million users, with 1 million on a single server. Plus a bunch more across the non-Mastodon fediverse.

Why I Retired My Webmention Server #oldailyhttps://www.downes.ca/post/75204 As readers know, I've tinkered with implementing things like WebMentions and Microformats and Indieweb and Brid.gy over the years. Readers will also know my general lack of success, partially (I argue) because of significantly poor documentation, and partially because it's overly cumbersome. I do love the concept of #indieweb and won't let that go, though. But there has to be a better way.

It has been years since I went on to buy a custom domain for me, after being convinced by the #IndieWeb wiki that it would be an important cornerstone of my web identity.
One upside I just realized is that I never really bothered to hide my beautiful email from spammers ( it's just right there on my home page) and I never really got much spam. Why? Because it's a super underused TLD, so scrapers probably don't look for it.

I have an #accessibility question for the #WebDev community: How can I make an accessible spoiler element? On my site, I use a #CSS class to make my div have a black background, and text color set to black. On hover (or on tap on mobile) the background and text color is unset. It's dawned on me though that this surely isn't doing anything for screen readers. So, how might I go about making this work better? An example page can be see here: https://www.vzqk50.com/projects/pentabit/#explanation

The former is a niche search, focussing on the #indieweb, small web and digital gardens — i.e. non-commercial content, primarily personal and independent websites.
The latter is the personal website of @starbreaker, one of the very best recent discoveries. I love his writings, as it's common with people who are not afraid to tell things by their name.

Hello, #fediverse! - I'm new here and getting my #indieweb situation settled over at ciprianisbsmnt.space, so here's my #introduction:
I live in #Maine and work #remote in digital recruiting/education and have a LOT of special interests (like art, reading, #astrology, #occult, and #hiking!)
Here's a picture of my dog, #Tepe on Burnt Meadow Mountain yesterday. ⛰️ 🐾

I continue to pine for a native app that brings together all of my social/feeds into one place. Like https://alltogethernow.io, but native on macOS and iOS, and with support for the Fediverse, BlueSky, and Micro.blog.

After weeks of struggle and failed attempts to bend my static website generator and its templating engine, I’ve given up and I’m now embracing React for my personal website.
I know that the #IndieWeb community favors simplicity and zero-cruft web, but simplicity to me means using the tool I already know.
And I love data viz, so I’m sorry if my corner of the web is going to take a few extra milliseconds to load, but it’s still less than what it would take for a good quality image anyway.
