"Using computers more freely and safely"
Interesting talk about computers, the internet and simplicity.
@softinio @linux_mclinuxface Or you know, focus on the open standards rather than on the implementations.
As long as a network is controlled by a single implementation it will be at the liberty of whoever controls that single implementation.
I’m testing Calckey to improve compatibility with Micro.blog. Some of the UI is quite busy and not for me, but I love how they are showing ActivityPub usernames, with the profile photo and dimmed domain name. Might borrow this.
@tchambers @decius Also: #BlueSky, #Fediverse _and_ the #IndieWeb can learn from one another. The IndieWeb’s focus on plurality and composition of independent standards is worse from a PR perspective but better from a resiliency and innovation perspective
@saluki the #IndieWeb is people.
People following IndieWeb principles: https://indieweb.org/principles
Can anyone tell me what the #indieweb is?
My first new blog post since 2021. 😅
"Welcome back!" by Michael Gale
WordPress is celebrating its 20th anniversary today!

I moved my personal site to it 5 years ago. From my blog post:
"I am also interested in exploring other open web technologies, like ActivityPub and OStatus. I’m not 100% convinced that Mastodon will take over Twitter, but there is a lot of promise in the ideas and technologies behind it."

There sure is!

Recapping micro.camp and remapping social protocols. It’s your < 10min update on the #IndieWeb community!

Seems unlikely that we’ll end up with a single unified social web platform. I like Mastodon’s focus on communities. I like Bluesky’s thinking on distributed moderation. I like the IndieWeb’s principles of ownership. I like Nostr’s private messaging. How will we tie all of this together? Blogs.
I just reached two hundred original posts (excluding boosts and replies) on #Fediverse! Took me six months. I have them all archived on my website https://abnv.me/mb, something which I couldn't do when I was on Twitter. #indieweb
I love fiddling around with my website
@ubergeek I've been going back and forth between the idea of a second Fediverse account on something like #WriteFreely, firing up my own instance of something (maybe #WordPress, it has decent #ActivityPub integrations), or just firing up an #IndieWeb website with blog and microblog capabilities and using https://fed.brid.gy. I did look at implementing AP myself, but it's fiddly and I don't have the time.
@vortex_egg I was gonna use #IndieWeb (https://indieweb.org/Category:PostType) and BibTeX types.
I also have had this damn tab open for ages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Decimal_Classification for creating the directory structure on my storage drives.
