My website looks terrible on purpose (sort of). It’s certainly minimal on purpose, for a few reasons:
I want it to be fast on any device and regardless of the kind of internet connection the reader has,
I didn’t want to be burdened with having to make sense of and potentially maintain someone else’s template or theme,
I want the distraction-less environment allows readers to actually focus on the writing rather than page aesthetics.
In any case, I hope you’re not actually reading this on my website but on the RSS or social reader of your choice to avoid having to deal with my amateurish CSS.

I’ve kept a fairly regular links section going on this site for a few years now, but I’ve been neglecting it recently, mainly due to posting directly to Mastodon. Relatedly: been trying to get POSSE-ing again, so good to see how posts from the site appear elsewhere (i.e. am testing).

Folks, my teenager is interested in starting his own weblog so he can write about video games. He does not necessarily want to start out with learning HTML and CSS, so a hosted service might be best. What’s a good place for a beginner?
