anyways, new post!!!!!!!!! #indieweb https://catgirlin.space/activity/fbfa5c1ee0dadcc27ca804beb359d842/
No matter how the other platforms sort out, I'm sticking around #Mastodon and the #Fediverse. The conversations here are unique and I've had some of my best gaming chats this year here. Also expanding into the #IndieWeb. Federation is a fantastic thing.
Decided to stop waiting for this to be "done" and just post it.

Definitely liking how ActivityPub works with my two blogs. (They are at @elizabethtai.com@elizabethtai.com and @dramatea88.wordpress.com@dramatea88.wordpress.com However, there are a few limitations:
The issue with the comments is definitely the most frustrating. From what I can see, you need to directly reply to the post itself for it to appear on the blog. Replies to that comment, however, will not appear. This is something to raise with the team, and I have raised a support ticket related to this issue. I have no idea whether they’ll address it 😉
Still, it’s a very good first step to integrate blogs into the Fediverse. I can imagine a future where people happily exist within this network of blogs and non-corporate social media, separate from the Googles and the Facebooks of the world.

Just published a new Core Intuition episode about ActivityPub support in WordPress.com and its impact on Micro.blog, plus a discussion of Humane and the potential for new AI-based devices.
This makes feel all warm and fuzzy:
At the time, I was disheartened by the tech industry and terrified of doing a tech post. I thought those things were for everyone else but me.
Only at the end of 2017 did something shift inside me, thanks to Jeremy Keith’s talk at the ViewSource conference. I discovered the IndieWeb community, and with that came the reassurance that my “nicheless” blog was absolutely okay.
Thanks to that feeling of acceptance, from 2018 onwards, my confidence really picked up, and I was blogging frequently, including web development things!
Well said. The future is looking brighter for the #indieweb.

@atpfm good episode. On the topic of “life streams,” there are some people like me in the #IndieWeb community that use our websites for this purpose. I record every podcast I listen to on @overcastfm automatically. Every show and movie through Trakt. Every significant place I go with Swarm. My location in realtime using Overland (https://overland.p3k.app), and more.

Ooh, it looks like Bridgy Fed now has support for at-mentions. Thanks @snarfed@indieweb.social!

My WordPress debugging - Thinking out loud...
I have 2 #WordPress blogs on subdomains WWW & AMF (see profile) almost identical in structure (95%).
Been testing a lot around #ActivityPub and #IndieWeb: new plugins, new interactions... And:
- AMF runs smoothly.
- WWW (older) has a few hiccups...
Been trying to test/debug/troubleshoot for some time now, removing all plugins etc.
Had to change theme (from 2020 to 2023) and that solved a few things (AMF uses 2020, WWW is now on 2023).

#Wordpress is joining the #Fediverse, making it possible for people to follow Wordpress blogs right from your Fediverse accounts. But what if you have static-site generator based #blog? Use the excellent (and free) Bridgy Fed service https://fed.brid.gy by @snarfed! For example, you can follow my blog at @abhinavsarkar.net@abhinavsarkar.net, made available on fediverse using Bridgy Fed. #indieweb
