Do you want to get away from using icon fonts? I did.
I wrote a post (and a few pens on CodePen) showing three different ways to use emojis and custom “emoji-like” images as list markers.

Continued #Introduction
I am an admin and co-owner of tech.lgbt, which I started in April 2017 as an extension of my interest in the #IndieWeb and owning your own spaces online. I’m grateful and thankful that so many people have found this as their home on the fediverse, now or in the past.
If you have any questions about the instance, please message @mods or email mods@tech.lgbt, so that our full mod team can respond. I’m not the sole decision maker here, so I just don’t want folks to tag me alone! Our mod team is amazing and does great work that deserves to be praised
Having been around the fediverse for so long, I’ve seen a lot of discourse come, go, and come again. I will generally focus on maintaining and moderating the instance and using this as a personal account. Commenting or not commenting on any #meta here is not reflective of the instance as a whole.
Above all, I try to be kind, welcoming, and patient here, and encourage you to do the same

Today I got a basic #webring working to connect my website with the sites of a couple of my art friends!
After I work out the look of the widget, I'd like to make a few connecting sites with similar content. Right now I'm thinking one for #scifi art & maybe #worldbuilding projects. If you're interested in joining one of these, let me know!

Removed custom shortlinks from my likes and listens and now only generate them for notes, articles, and pages.
And got rid of a whole lot of broken links.

"Redesigning your personal website is one of life’s great pleasures." says @chriscoyier in the newest People & Blogs interview.
I so agree. It's fun to have your own space where you make all the decisions and don't have to only do things for the bottom line.

Good news from Bluesky that a public web interface is coming this month. They’ve had a “staging” web app, but it required signing in. Also:
As a reminder, Bluesky is a public social network, so your posts, likes, etc. have always been publicly accessible through the API. We designed Bluesky with the openness of the internet in mind, and you can think of your profile as a blog on the internet.
In the future, it will be easier to have actual blogs that seamlessly act as ActivityPub and AT Protocol profiles. We’re halfway there with Micro.blog already.

I'm going through Broken Pencil (a Canadian #magazine about #zines and weird print) and they recc'd Prehistoric Times, an indie magazine about #dinosaurs. The website looks like something out of the 90s and a year subscription is $40USD. I'm so tempted. #zine #dinosaur #smolweb #indieweb

@amin Oh good god my workflows are very opinionated and specific to what I do 😂 A lot of it also relies less on the existence of a generator and more of abusing the way it works. But here’s the main things I’m trying to get working/have already and love.
- Nunjucks and Markdown Templating Support
- Some kind of decent support for getting a post from iOS pushed to whatever repo stores the site and triggers a build
- Ability for multiple post types (ex. Posts as one category and notes as another)
- API connections to other services to grab extra metadata without custom functions (ex. Adding a book ISBN to the metadata and being able to pull whatever expected data for the book into the post itself)
My reqs./wishes are a bit odd and eventually I’ll build my own system (#IndieWeb FTW) but I have literally zero free time to work on it. Maybe over the summer but that’s also very much up in the air (waiting on internships but I won’t hear about the one that I’m really banking on until like March).

For anyone making use of my RSS feeds, I made some changes to simplify the template while making some content formatting changes (e.g. inlining the feature image at the start of longer articles/reviews). I’ve also limited the main feed to 25 posts instead of 50, which seemed excessive. While I tested with an offline reader, I can’t guarantee things won’t break, so if they do, please let me know!
