I have seen this argument a lot (especially each time #Mastodon or #indieweb have another cultural moment) and I'm coming to agree with it more and more.

A Faircamp Guide for Lazy People, by Lazy People

Or, how I learned to stop using Bandcamp and start embracing free and open music distribution tools.

This post is going to serve as a somewhat quick and dirty guide for tech-literate music producers to spin up your own Faircamp site. For those of you not comfortable with the steps I’m about to outline, there are Faircamp hosting services […]

@aaronpk You are right, I missed your home page (because somehow green fell into the background). I am thinking a lot these days about (and buying) websites in between: professionally managed but not “you are the product to be sold” ones. Paid-for independent services. https://sr.ht, https://fastmail.fm, etc. #IndieWeb

@aaronpk I am certainly not the first one who noticed that the former champion of use-your-own-server and #Indieweb has as his three links only corporate monosilos, right?

The new #Kurzgesagt video is a really good lay summary of #SocialSorting and a rallying call for an #indieweb style web and a return to BBs. I did groan when the narrator referred to "the pre-social media internet that old people might remember" 👴https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fuFlMtZmvY0&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&feature=emb_title

“IndieBlocks v0.10.0”

I should probably blog about this over at the IndieBlocks website, but whatever. So, what’s new in version 0.10.0? Well, webmentions for replies. That is, the plugin is now able to also send webmentions for comments that themselves are replies to a comment that originated as a webmention. (Makes sense? Good.) Doesn’t matter whether those […]

fluffy rambles: What time is it? Unstructured rambling time!

@imyaman I see you're also involved in similar things like me like #IndieWeb #Fediverse #programming #blogging etc.

Have you seen this one Korean #Lemmy instance? https://lemmy.funami.tech/

I have no idea who is hosting it and for how long they will have it up, it's the only instance I found hosted in Korea. It seems I'm one of the few who posts to communities on it, I was hoping it would grow from r/korea which it didn't ^^. But perhaps it will slowly grow organically who knows ^^.

Why do we confine ourselves to a handful of apps when the web is so gigantic?

I just watched M. Night Shyamalan's The Village so you're getting another "web is the forest" metaphor tonight!

I've been a fan of RSS for almost a quarter of a century—IMO, it keeps the modern web useable—feels more relevant than ever with the Twitter/X mismanagement. Love FreshRSS.

Recommend me your favourite RSS feeds! Even if they're yours, I want to know about them!

I’m a big #inboxzero fan, both as a means to generally declutter but also as a mechanism to fuel a productive to-do driven life. Check out the two-part series on Inbox Zero below if you’re interested!

Howdy #IndieWeb now that I have my blog with the ActivityPub I do't get how can I answer to somebody who comment on the Mastodon post with the "Reply" kind. Any help?!

Made fairly big changes to my HTML site's main navbar/header this eve. Was afraid 🫤 I broke stuff as changes were not consistent or complete across different browsers. Think all's well now though - 😬 relieved. Happy 🤓for a fresh and simpler blog site. More to come!

after an incredibly busy fall offline, i've managed to get version 5 up of the mueum of alexandra @ https://xandra.cc!

this week, i'm celebrating two years of rediscovering the personal #web and #indieweb movements, scattered across our independent plains from the tendrils of the corporate web. it's so, so lovely to be here and building #websites for fun again, to see what people are making, to reconnect with my nerdy inner child, to be inspired by so many that continue to show me what is possible with self-expression on the web.

i have a lot to be thankful for this year, but i'm going into 2024 grateful on my personal hobby front, too. #webdev *is* fun and approachable, and it's so heartwarming to see that we're making it that way for others too over at the 32-bit cafe.

thank you to all of you who keep the independent web, the personal web, the small web, the non-corporate web going. i see you, i see your efforts, and i hope you keep it up. 💕

I just finished my small contribution to this months #indieweb carnival with the great topic "Community and belonging" chosen by @alexture: https://daniel.mowitz.rocks/longform/community/bases/
