In the past I\u2019ve considered going all in on iCloud now that you can <a href=\"https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT212514\">use a custom domain name</a>, or using a service like <a href=\"https://www.fastmail.com/\">Fastmail</a> or <a href=\"https://proton.me/mail\">Proton Mail</a>, but transferring my mail archive would be a lot of faff with risk of data loss all for little gain. Never Gmail.\ud83d\ude4d\ud83c\udffb\u200d\u2642\ufe0f ContactsmacOS Contacts.\ud83d\uddd3\ufe0f CalendarmacOS Calendar.\ud83d\uddd2\ufe0f NotesmacOS Notes.\u2705 To domacOS Reminders. Having tried many times to avoid keeping to do lists in Notes, this year I\u2019ve finally managed to start using Reminders. Of all the apps bundled with macOS, this is by far the worse. Bloated with features, fiddly to use, and not that nice to look at, either.\ud83d\udcac ChatMessages ideally, but in most cases WhatsApp. Not by choice, this being the one reluctant exception to my otherwise successful boycott of Facebook\u2019s Meta\u2019s products.\ud83c\udf10 Web browsingSafari\u2026 though I\u2019m edging closer to giving <a href=\"https://arc.net/\">Arc</a> a try.\ud83d\udcf7 Photo shooting<a href=\"https://fujifilm-x.com/en-gb/products/cameras/x-s20/\">Fujifilm X-S20</a> (iPhone 11 Pro through gritted teeth).\ud83c\udf9e\ufe0f Photo organisationmacOS Photos. Having been burnt by Adobe enough times over the years and weary of their monopoly over creative apps, I won\u2019t use Lightroom. This means begrudgingly relying on Photos which redeems itself thanks to its iCloud integration. <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aperture_(software)\">Aperture</a> remains sorely missed.\ud83c\udf05 Photo editing<a href=\"https://www.pixelmator.com/pro/\">Pixelmator Pro</a> which all too often fills the gaps in Photos lacklustre editing tools.\ud83d\udcd6 Feeds<a href=\"https://netnewswire.com/\">NetNewsWire</a>, synced using iCloud.\ud83d\udcd1 Read It LaterIn theory I have an <a href=\"https://www.instapaper.com/\">Instapaper</a> account, but in practice it doesn\u2019t matter. I\u2019ve stopped saving long-form articles to read later and instead leave them unread in my feed reader.\ud83d\udd16 Bookmarks<a href=\"https://www.pinboard.in/\">Pinboard</a>? Again, I\u2019ve stopped managing bookmarks as I realised that I rarely return to them.\ud83d\udd10 Password managementmacOS Passwords.\ud83d\udcc4 Word processing<a href=\"https://ia.net/writer\">iA Writer</a> \u2013 points awarded for its <a href=\"https://micropub.spec.indieweb.org/\">Micropub</a> support.\ud83d\udcc8 SpreadsheetsI enjoy using <a href=\"https://www.google.com/sheets/about/\">Google Sheets</a> for work, even more so since experiencing the embarrassing shit show that is Microsoft 365. For personal stuff, its <a href=\"https://www.apple.com/numbers/\">Numbers</a>.\ud83d\udcca PresentationsTypically <a href=\"https://www.apple.com/keynote/\">Keynote</a>, but I created my presentation for UX London using <a href=\"https://ia.net/presenter\">iA Presenter</a> and it was a revelation.\ud83d\udcf0 NewsNo apps, just visiting websites such as <a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/uk\">The Guardian</a>, <a href=\"https://www.theverge.com/\">The Verge</a>\u2026\ud83c\udfb5 Music<a href=\"https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-music/\">Apple Music</a>.\ud83c\udfa4 Podcasts<a href=\"https://overcast.fm/\">Overcast</a> \u2013 a rare divergence from Apple\u2019s default.\ud83d\udcd0 Design<a href=\"https://www.sketch.com/\">Sketch</a> and the <a href=\"https://prototype-kit.service.gov.uk/docs/\">GOV.UK Prototype Kit</a>.
