If there is sufficient interest, I’d love to find two or three other motivated developers to work with. I think I’m onto something, but its slow going on my own. I’ll get it to production eventually, but building a vibrant community is appealing to me. If you’re interested, hit me up. #IndieWeb
As I have shared, I’ve been working on a new platform for my website, built with Python, Flask, and DuckDB. Its fast, stores content on disk as JSON files, supports many “kinds” of content, IndieAuth, Micropub, etc. Its not open source, but I’d be curious to know if there are any develolpers out there who would be interested in collaborating. #IndieWeb

Should I read anything into the fact that the #Microformats 2 plugin hasn’t been updated in six years? #WordPress #IndieWeb

I posted about this in a reply earlier but I updated my website today! I don’t post very often on there, or at least haven’t in the past, but that was partially because managing it felt super clumsy. I am a developer but when I just want to post something or share something, I don’t want to have to go into Terminal or write markdown or whatever. I wanted a static site with a GUI admin and *finally* found a framework I like. Blog post soon but for now…new site!

Talking about "The Software Industry" makes about as much sense as talking about "The Music Industry".

It's the least interesting slice of both creative practices.

Look to the edges, the boundaries, the borders.

Further thinking on cold-blooded software, this is perhaps a bit spicy, but from a pure business perspective warm blooded software is not ideal.

Fundamentally, unserious in fact.

The Pirate Ship Model

"The thing is, if you want a thing to survive on the internet, it needs its own website, and if you have a stake in it, it needs to be your website." - @taalumot

Was asked about #fediverse vis-a-vis #indieweb on a podcast. I said:

“Two identical twins separated a birth.”

That was a spur of the moment thought, but probably not wrong.

Can we reunite the family?

Permanence · Indie Microblogging

One of the reasons to own your content is to make it last. When you have control of the text you write or the photos you post, it’s up to you whether that content stays on the internet. When you post to someone else’s platform, you’ve given up that control. It’s not up to you whether the company that hosts your content will stay in business or change everything to break your content.

I’ve expanded on my toot about LinkedIn’s collaborative articles, on my blog 😀

The Internet Is About to Get Weird Again

Anil says the glass is half full:

Across today’s internet, the stores that deliver all the apps on our phones are cracking open, the walls between social media platforms are coming down as the old networks fail, the headlong rush towards AI is making our search engines and work apps weirder (and often worse!). But amidst it all, the human web, the one made by regular people, is resurgent. We are about to see the biggest reshuffling of power on the internet in 25 years, in a way that most of the internet’s current users have never seen before.

Taking Back the Web with Decentralization: 2023 in Review | Electronic Frontier Foundation

In the past few years, there’s been an accelerating swing back toward decentralization. Users are fed up with the concentration of power, and the prevalence of privacy and free expression violations, and many users are fleeing to smaller, independently operated projects.

@Tmichellemoore.com (@tmichellemoore@mastodon.social) yes! You can do it!

I created a section on the #100Days page specifically for #100Posts projects:

Just discovered that if I set the #Webmention plugin *not* to separate webmentions from comments, so they appear in the comment stream, they *do* link to the actual mention, not just the blog home or about page. It’s just when you separate them that the avatars in the facepiles do that. Hopefully I can at least get an option for them to link to the actual mentions. #IndieWeb #WordPress
