New Shrediverse blog post!

I don't really understand what #IndieWeb is, and I've tried to look into it many times as it -sounds- like it'd be my jam.
All I seem to come up with is "own your own website". Oh and something something webrings?
I figure it must be more than that, because a lot of the people that appeared to be involved in IndieWeb are software developers. They overwhelmingly already have their own websites.
Is it, "get non-developers people to own their own website too"?
Would love to be informed
Per my policy of always giving a shout-out to new tech I find that I like: Pagefind is an awesome tool for adding search to static sites: https://pagefind.app
#smallweb and #indieweb creators should take a look.
Thanks to @bglw for the awesome work! 👏
The problem with organizing content chronologically is that it makes everything ephemeral by default. Even if at a slower pace than social media, blogging still submits us to the clock. Just as we need discovery and curation to navigate through information overflow, we need archiving and anthologizing to stay aware of what came before.
@crashthearcade I’m probably splitting hairs on this, but #IndieWeb needs PRODUCT designers, who are not always simply UI/UX designers. I jumped in another thread about this, recently. Until there’s (at least) one unified product that “does IndieWeb” it will remain exclusive to people who can build their own web apps.
I agree that this stuff is too complicated but I've long felt this is more than just a development issue: we need designers. #Design #IndieWeb

Hello, fediverse! My name is Greg & I’m coming to you straight from my freshly minted WordPress-based website. I’m a bit nervous about this, as I’ve had some issues getting things working smoothly, but I think I’ve got most of the kinks worked out at this point. Just wanted to wave hello and encourage all of you to check out my website plus leave a comment. It would help me feel like putting in the effort to put this together was worth it. Thanks for reading this & I hope your day goes well…
Webmention is a simple way to notify any URL when you mention it on your site. From the receiver's perspective, it's a way to request notifications when other sites mention it.
Inspired by all the #indieweb blogs I've been reading lately, I decided to spin up a Grav instance and an accompanying code server instance for remote file access and markdown editing.
I'm excited to start posting about some of the tech I use, things I'm into, and things I'm working on, among other random thoughts and ideas. I'll start posting about some things there rather than here going forward.
(Still a work in progress)
No large language models (LLM) were used in the production of this post.
Inspired by a subtle but clear sign-of-the-times one-line disclaimer at the end of RFC9518’s Acknowledgments (https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9518.html#appendix-A-4)
„No large language models (LLM) were used in the production of this post.“ scheint das neue „IndieWeb“ oder „Fediverse“ zu werden.
And happy blogging forever!
@scottandrew have a look at micro.blog and omg.lol for more #indieweb friendly on boarding
I genuinely enjoy articles like this and the discussion that follows. UX/onboarding is a huge barrier of #indieweb uptake. Substack has this figured out.
