I think subscribe the hashtag is a better way to find your interesting content.

And then according to the content, find someone who you want to follow.

Or, it is a hard way to follow someone when you first login. Because the fediverse social network doesn't have a recommendation list.

Anyway, you need to search the content by yourself, not waiting for the recommendation system for you, because there isn’t.

How Threads will integrate with the Fediverse

A long conversation today between @fraying and @pfefferle had me wondering if #ActivityPub is to the #IndieWeb as A.I. is to Silicon Valley.

I'm not sure I answer that question, but the conversation was interesting and so I did some #Blogging on one particular point.

the time has come! the 32-bit cafe's 2023 holiday event has finally wrapped up, and all the submissions are up for display!

thank you to all the amazing #webdev folks of varying levels who participated, whether it be with a #blog post, #pixelart submission, or a webpage made about the year ending!

the #indieweb is better with you in it, and 2024 is going to be a great year for the personal web! ^^

📝 New Post: A Simple Guide to Redirects on Neocities with Eleventy

We lack tutorials or guides for #11ty outside the big platforms. Here's my attempt at changing that.

#web #indieweb #blog

@james #IndieWeb is for me largely negatively defined: not using centralized silos like Twitter, GitHub, Substack and building network of independent websites collaborating together. Particular technologies and protocols are just secondary.

@drewdevault Certainly not for you, but generally, whether this is not the moment, where #IndieWeb would be more robust, because somebody would have to target all thousands and thousands of instances of gitweb/cgit. Just thinking aloud. Perhaps, this is the moment for git-bug as well?

Today’s feeling and now expressed thought: that #ActivityPub is to the #IndieWeb as #AI is to #SiliconValley.

@james

I don't think i'm being very coherent, but essentially for me with something like #ActivityPub the ideal is shared, cooperative infrastructure on the federated network— so i'm on https://social.coop

But you can still choose to POSSE into the fediverse from your own website— we do that for a client, @portside

But for replies etc rather than try the #indieweb approach to an open protocol, it makes sense to implement it directly, if you want that.

E.g. https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub/

I’ve been thinking about my Dwell CMS project and how complex it is to stand up an #IndieWeb site that is highly portable. With my approach, I could very easily create a, self-contained, portable, #IndieWeb experience within a single container. 🤔

I don't really understand what #IndieWeb is, and I've tried to look into it many times as it -sounds- like it'd be my jam.

All I seem to come up with is "own your own website". Oh and something something webrings?

I figure it must be more than that, because a lot of the people that appeared to be involved in IndieWeb are software developers. They overwhelmingly already have their own websites.

Is it, "get non-developers people to own their own website too"?

Would love to be informed :Blobhaj_Golly:

Per my policy of always giving a shout-out to new tech I find that I like: Pagefind is an awesome tool for adding search to static sites: https://pagefind.app

#smallweb and #indieweb creators should take a look.

Thanks to @bglw for the awesome work! 👏

@Aywren this is why we need to bring back #smallweb and #indieweb

The problem with organizing content chronologically is that it makes everything ephemeral by default. Even if at a slower pace than social media, blogging still submits us to the clock. Just as we need discovery and curation to navigate through information overflow, we need archiving and anthologizing to stay aware of what came before.

@crashthearcade I’m probably splitting hairs on this, but #IndieWeb needs PRODUCT designers, who are not always simply UI/UX designers. I jumped in another thread about this, recently. Until there’s (at least) one unified product that “does IndieWeb” it will remain exclusive to people who can build their own web apps.
