Didn’t realize until reading this blog post from the Fediverse Report that much of the new migration to Bluesky is from Japan. Seems significant as Twitter X was always popular in Japan.

I should update my post on #indieweb and using Cloudron for my VPS. I’m getting closer to a situation where all the cloud software I need is on my own server.

Really enjoying the new app Outline for drafting documents, collaborating on documents and making them available for external review. It has replaced my bit.ai subscription. Will be used a lot for allowing clients to review and give feedback on reports.

cal.com has replaced my Calendly subscription.

I’m using Baserow instead of Airtable.

And of course, I’m running about six Ghost installations for different projects.

If all fares well with MiroTalk, that will replace any online meeting platforms I’m paying for (Whereby at the moment).

Nextcloud is in line to replace Dropbox.

If I need to sketch interfaces I’ve got Penpot.

I’m using Umami for web stats but that’s been going on for a long time now.

Not sure I’ll want to replace Harvest, but there is the possibility of Invoice Ninja.

Anyway, there is so much satisfaction in hosting my own services rather than relying on corporate big tech versions of the similar software.

Decided to join this month's Indieweb Carnival and post about Digital Relationships. Thanks to Manu for hosting this month's theme!

Quick Q about Bridgy for the #indieweb community: Can I use Bridgy to monitor “the fediverse” (or just a single Mastodon instance?) for mentions/interactions of my blog posts, and feed it as webmentions to my WP blog?

I’m a little confused about the functionality and options, given I’m already using the ActivityPub plugin to federate my content.

Thanks to @adele ¹, I finally found the perfect minamilist #hugo theme ² to use as a base for a new custom theme!

Too bad I found it right after I edited my all theme for the #indieweb microformat 2 weeks ago…
Guess, I'm making a minimal #indieweb ready version of the smol hugo theme now :]

Expanding on some recent posts on Mastodon, I wrote my entry for this month's IndieWeb Carnival (topic: Digital Relationships).

TL;DR — Words are crucial to build a sense of online community, however many of us have been using them straight out of a soulless corporate lingo in order to sell ourselves as a product.

I've spent the last couple of days working on this, and I’ve rejigged it to the best of my liking. For the first time since I re-opened my blog, I’m quite happy with how everything is set up.

Next undertaking is to nail down categorisation (tags included) and properly document it for future reference..! #indieweb #SmallWeb #blogging #blogs

Bluesky has added another million users this week, bringing the total to over 4 million. By comparison, the ActivityPub-based fediverse has about 10 million users according to FediDB. The situation will change when Threads is added, but if Bluesky keeps growing it’s worth asking how they’ve done it.

I'm glad this piece of history was archived to look back and wonder what the hell happened. The writing was on the wall. https://youtu.be/FeeCKGYAenA?si=kIUJ2jVCGDfKM5J3

Another article on the modern era of blogging surfaced on my RSS feed today.

Jim Nielsen boldly proposes that we live a new golden era of blogging.

I don't know. We modern bloggers inhabit a tiny self-indulging bubble that is not comparable with the original scene, but you know what, I feel comfortable in it.
