I added a directory section to my website for links to other people's sites as well as handy resources and other fun things on the internet that I had bookmarked.

If we're mutuals on here and I somehow missed your site, get in touch with me if you want it added to the directory. I prefer non-social media/non-commercial links on this list; check out Neocities if you want to make a free DIY website, or consider starting a blog!

haven’t been able to finish building my new site so i can post writing bc my computer has been in repair for like three weeks now, so i’m tapping away on my phone but it’s just not the same. i feel like i need an electric typewriter or a knockaround computer like an old thinkpad

I worked on adding tags to the Fern River Club site last night, and included some provisional tags on the season 1 scenes. I like the idea of tags highlighting sexy themes that link the scenes together differently than people and places. “Self love”, for example, and “social nudity”.

What kinds of tags do you like to see on erotic stories? What subtleties feel exciting to highlight?

Good idea here from Ben Werdmuller for a Fediverse VIP service:

Fediverse VIP is a managed service that allows any brand to create individual fediverse profiles for its employees and shared ones for its publications, on its own domain, using its own brand styles, with abuse prevention and individual safety features, and with full analytics reporting.

Micro.blog Teams could fill part of this need, with multiple users each with their own subdomain or posts on a group blog. With our pricing changes, we’ve sort of buried Teams, but probably should do more to promote it.

All the (active) sites using Webmention that I found so far [March 2024]

Readers with long memories will remember my post “All the (active) sites using Webmention that I find (sic) so far” – the May 2022 edition and then the June 2022 edition. This is that list but updated for March 2024 and put in some sort of logical order in a post with a grammatically improved title.

A highlighted post

UbuWeb has lots of avant-garde artifacts and while it is no longer updated, it will be maintained indefinitely: https://ubu.com/

The fediverse is really happening

Cornerstones laid! The site now has an About page, a Contact page, and a /now page. And it was so much fun and so easy to do! A big thanks to @marsedit on making hard things easy.

Nope, only the posts I manually trigger. I think if you wanted to post to this Mastodon account, you would use Bridgy Classic, which has an interactive form: you put in the URL of your post, it fetches the microformats from your post, then it cross-posts (not federates) the post. Bridgy Fed is actual federation, where my website is my AP identity — I don't have a Mastodon account.

It's definitely a bit more manual of a process and if you enjoy the Mastodon app experience now, it might be a downgrade in that regard. Happy to talk about it more in indieweb dev channel.

AP supports some set of HTML in posts. I'm using Bridgy Fed to federate my posts directly from my site, so it sends those inline links. There's some elements Mastodon doesn't support, but it usually just strips them and the plain text still works well: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/spec/activitypub/#sanitization

New latest #blog post is a review of all five seasons of the #tvshow Fargo - one of the best shows I've seen.

Given that the #IndieWeb is resurgent, you might want to make a #blogroll for your site. If you use #WordPress you can use the Links Manager. If you do *that* you might want to update the RSS field with Feed urls (#Atom, #RSS). There is an OPML export plugin if you have data in there. Here's a script to populate those RSS fields via command line. Worked well for me. https://gist.github.com/artlung/3c2e69084af5090a1a9d7c5a0bb544ad

“I think the defining economic reality of the modern platform media world is that all the platforms realized that an infinite supply of teenage creators are cheaper to deal with than media companies or groups of media individuals or powerful creators”

Great interview with @nilay_patel, very worthwhile and #fediverse and #indieweb enthusiastic.
