I use https://fed.brid.gy/ and webmentions to allow people to follow me from the fediverse. To send webmentions I use a netlify build plugin but you could use something like https://webmention.app/

@nigel there's a tool for checking the various elements of your site https://indiewebify.me/ but I don't know about enabling a site. Maybe a certain template for the tool you are using to build your site? Most of it is all about microformats which is just html elements. #indieweb

A look back at friendships made, and those forgotten.

Inspired by @ApisNecros original post (https://www.vzqk50.com/blog/an-ode-to-lost-friends/)! A beautiful idea that I promised I would steal 😄

Restrictions are a crucial part of the creative process, writes Kimberly in this #IndieWeb Carnival submission.

Dear #indieweb, what are the good #selfhosted tools to #fediverse enable static sites? I've found https://fedipage.com/ but that seems tied to a lot of SaaS out of the box. I basically want posting of articles, and display of fediverse replies.

To follow through on my pledge to do more of my #internet reading on the #indieweb, I've been visiting random blogs using this site and adding any interesting ones to an #RSS feed.

My intention is to browse this feed much the same way I would the news -call it a self-care practice. I want to spend more time in reflection and less in panic. I also want to get ideas for, perhaps, my own blog someday.

I posted 46 reasons why you should have a website.

It's not an exhaustive list. What other reasons am I missing? Tell me and I'll update the post. 🙏. Need to convince more of my friends to start one.

Doing my bit for the ol' #IndieWeb today by updating joegaffey.com and starting to claw back or at least better catalogue some of the content that I've posted across the various Web 2.0 services over the years.

🎥▶️ Now watching:
Building Bridges to the Fediverse, with Ryan Barrett

Good to hear the whole reasoning behind trying to build bridges between Fediverse and Bluesky and dealing with “social media culture clashes” as told by Ryan Barnett. I’ve gotten to talk to him a lot over the past few years of my #indieweb but never really got to hear Ryan speak conversationally about some of the nuances he has to work through not only systematically but empathetically and humanly too.

Building Bridges to the Fediverse, with Ryan Barrett from Flipboard Dot Social1 hour 1 minute 33 seconds

The beauty of an open system is that anyone can build on top of it and try to make it a better place. In the fediverse, software engineer Ryan Barrett is one such developer. Ryan’s been building so…

Spent some time hacking together a fairly smooth way to put micro posts on my website from iOS last night.

Uses Apple Shortcuts to capture the info, format into markdown with front matter and then commit & push to my repository with Working Copy. My self hosted forge then triggers a webhook on my server to build the website and update it. Magic!

I was remembering when I started my career and had to use large format plotters. Thought it would be a good post to write about.

Mulling over website building on this rainy morning. I know I haven't built anything on my staging server in a long long time (have my eye on a new computer that could let me have a more updated staging server and with better specs)

My friend @Moose_Harris has need for a musician site. He does alot of posting on all the social platforms I don't use, and so we aren't as connected in our day to day

He posts content on YouTube, Mixcloud, Spotify and all that, but I'm looking over CMSes for him to have his own website. Maybe post up his music on his website and have a platform agnostic place to do it
