Lightweight single-system monitoring? I am looking to monitor a single server with docker containers.

Mainly just basic I/O, Perf., and other bottlenecks. Alarms could be nice. But anything as basic as possible.

Netdata looks pretty good, but the default setup looks EXTREMELY overkill no?

Gitea and gitea-runner running on my VPS now. Gonna slowly setup deployment for it to the self-hosted website.

Like this is pretty rudimentary stuff in the end, but I am just incredible happy to finally have a bunch of workflows and pipelines up and running for full self-host.
About 4-6 hours of work so far, been documenting it a bit.

I hope to cancel my NeoCities subscription down the line and have it cover my cost for the VPS lol.

NeoCities: 5 USD
VPS: 5.22 USD

New on #WellMadeWeb: After Death Communication.

No, it isn't a mobile network offering supernatural coverage. Neither is it a PR firm that promises to guarantee your reputation long after you depart this middle realm. Rather, ADC is the Internet hub for those who have experienced spontaneous communication from their recently deceased loved ones.

> The IndieWeb could help people escape silosl, but the IndieWeb is exclusive

Tracy Durnell discusses several ways the IndieWeb community could work collectively to expand the independent web. Improve personal website discoverability, enable reader engagement, and more collaboration.

As it's often said, deadlines breed creativity! The last minute entries to #IndieWeb Carnival keep on coming.

@benjaminparry writes about how physical exercise creates an environment for the mind to wonder.

**Movement and flow**

My last minute submission for May’s #IndieWeb carnival hosted by @hamatti on the theme of creative environments.

We kicked off this month's #IndieWeb Carnival in Italian and unless someone sneaks in a last minute entry while I sleep, we're likely to finish it in Polish, showcasing the beautiful variety of people and blogs around the globe.

@hacknorris participated with a creative tutorial teaching us how to create pixel art characters.

"For every spark of creativity found in the depths of night, plucking away on the keyboard on my own, there are a hundred more that erupt like a lightning storm from being around such amazing people and captivating conferences and meet-ups."

@chrisburnell got his #IndieWeb Carnival entry in just in the nick of time and I'm very glad he did because the post is so good.

I've started owl-blogs to explore the #IndieWeb space. At the moment I'm "only" using #microformats and #webmention.

I've tried to implement #micropub in the past, but found it provided to little value for me.

Anything I should try out next?

Is there still any indieweb energy behind decentralizing reviews? Unsurprisingly, Google seems to have ceased supporting the microformat-based review markup discussed by Aaron Parecki here.

I don't want to rely upon or care very much about Google. But I would like to converge on a shared practice with other people trying to desilo-ify the web.

I never got around to adding FOAF to my website, but I guess I won't bother now.

So far, we've gotten 22 beautiful entries to this month's #IndieWeb Carnival and there's still a bit of time left: I'll write my round up post sometime tomorrow after waking up.

Topic and instructions at https://hamatti.org/posts/indie-web-carnival-may-2024-creative-environments/ if someone finds last minute inspiration.

As the month is rolling towards the end, we're getting the last #IndieWeb Carnival posts (still have time until June 1st has done a global rollout – or until I wake up tomorrow).

@capjamesg wrote about his creative environments: sometimes in solitude in an arm-chair looking over the green hills and sometimes on the go, exploring the world around.

Inspired by @claudinec's entry to this month's #IndieWeb Carnival, I really need to build myself a bliss station as I'm notoriously bad at detaching mentally from all the work and doomscrolling and whatever bad activities I'm doing.
