The peace of mind that comes from participating in #indieweb or indie social media is underrated. When your primary online source(s) of truth are not defined by the icky worldviews of corporate execs, you no longer have anxiety over your connections, features, tools, and data being misused or taken away. This benefit should transcend nerd circles.

I remember getting mad at dumb Twitter/IG etc changes, now I just shrug and get back to work creating my own stuff with the exact experience I want.

Tabletop game craft is my flavour of DIY.

I ponder about that and showcase my projects in my #IndieWeb Carnival entry for June as Andrei invited us to make something ourselves.

@jsadow @FediTips These experiences convinced me that I need a website under my control, #POSSE, pointing to Mastodon for conversation & replies. Despite encouraging advice here on how to set this up, I’ve been hoping that standard solutions will emerge. Easy integration with personal #IndieWeb sites with a version-of-record would help wider adoption, eg for the academic takeup discussed at https://mathstodon.xyz/@johncarlosbaez/112591719600733515 @mastohost @carrideen

As a kid in school, I was real bad at any craft subject. In my adulthood, I found my niche: tabletop games. I love prototyping new game ideas and accessories and rethinking how to minimize games.

Andrei invited us to write about our DIY projects as part of this month's #IndieWeb Carnival and in my entry, I wrote about my journey in tabletop game design.

if anyone can point me to an indieweb-ready website and newsletter platform (or how to create one from oss tools) please do.

buttondown does indieweb well but doesn't do website good

ghost does website reasonably good but isn't particularly indieweb friendly (and has some maddening quirks)

wordpress is... wordpress

like, seriously, I never want to move back to Substack but at least it helped me get subs >.<

help me, much-rumoured friendly #indieweb community, you're my only hope

Continuing my exercise in posting #blogs that seem cool.

The Foggiest is Diederick de Vries' blog, mainly various retro (I hate how how that makes me) technology posts about 8-bit computers and the #indieweb.

Lately, one of the things I've most enjoyed doing on this site has been expanding on the facets of it that aren't strictly related to the blog. I've been working around the edges on filling out music, movie, TV and book related functionality.

A question on domain names in the #IndieWeb (and in other open social spaces like the #SmallWeb) https://jacky.wtf/essays/2024/question-domain-names/

Web ring folk, is there one for human artists? More specifically for the stance of supporting human artists over AI gen slop.

On my blog today, I reflected on my time using Micro.Blog, the spirit of the #indieweb and cross-posting to the #Fediverse.

I’m no expert in any of this, but I figured it could be useful to anyone who was thinking about such things.

feDistricts update

Say hello to Naia Green, a new district dedicated to websites and communities uniting those under the furry and otherkin umbrella!

This brings us to a total of 16 districts as of now!

I've also been adding microformats2 thingies and so on to get ready-ish for prime time in terms for WebMentions and other cool stuff.

But now I need to take a look at Caddy's caching mechanisms. Also Twig's caching mechanisms.

@byjp That’s great, nice work!

And yes, absolutely agree that #indieweb needs to be easier for non-developers like me. More of that, please.

:neocat_bongo_up: Website! :neocat_bongo_down: Update!

I added a fairly simple page for all my graffiti pictures: https://devils.gay/graffiti_photobook

It requires JavaScript for pagination, and some of the graffiti include non-explicit nudity.
