「Big tech doesn’t care about people; LLM industry actively seeks harm. We’re seeing it time after time again. They consider the open web to be a resource that exists only for them to harvest.」
New blog post: Building technology to do the boring work for me

My new blog theme is live 🎉
The fediverse feels hackable. Like the old days.
The other day I discovered the #IndieWeb and https://fed.brid.gy/. And that it's blocked in my instance. I got into reading the standards battles between #Bluesky and #Mastodon. It feels just like the old days, except hopefully we've learned a thing or two.
But, like for your habits, I know that hackability & tech experimentalism probably makes it more inaccessible to many. And that's sad.

Help me decide on what to build next!
- A calm content consumption app
- A site-monitoring app
- A daily companion app
My website and my blog is very dear to me and I want to make sure that I can keep it up, running and updated even if any particular service goes down.
I did a self-sustenance checkup to my website, workflow and external dependencies to see how I'm doing and it gave me a lot of peace of mind.
I use some third party services (like Notion as headless CMS) but everything is built in a way that if there's no slowing me down if something fails.
The Smallweb Subway map is live!
It currently consists of 5 lines, each a #webring with one of the following themes:
Blue - #zines
Green - Artists from the Doodle Crew Discord server
Yellow - Members of a DC-based art club
Orange - #comics and #webcomics
Red - #poetry (maybe #microfiction too)
If you post any of these on your website & would like to be included, let me know! You can see the interactive map here:

#webdev #indieweb #smallweb
okay, back to readwise (and reader) i go. it's just TOO. GOOD.
all you #indieweb #smallweb bloggers better watch out i'm comin for your feeds
AND i imported all my kobo annotations and can sync them to obsidian. how could i resist that? #rss #readlater
Since I started following #indieweb hashtag has appeared posts or recommendations from interesting blogs.
I would like to suggest to enthusiasts to put hashtags #indieweb and also #smallweb in the dissemination toots of their blogs / websites.
I believe this is a very organic form to find content that pleases us.
Don't you know what indieweb is? Check it out:
- https://indieweb.org/ (in English)
- And Antonio's Blog https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=pt&tl=en&hl=pt-BR&u=https://antonioaugusto.net/&client=webapp
PS: Aiming at a more "universal" and "wide" communication, I even thought of making a second blog, with the same posts in English (Portuguese it's my native language).
That's when I remembered that Google Translator works very well at the current stage.
It is possible to put the site URL and generate another one that already carries it translated. It's big tech, but it's for a good cause (if you know of Open Source alternatives, let me know)

A new review on Brain Rots!
「Let’s get this right of the bat: Dead Man’s Letters is a masterpiece; one of the greatest movies I’ve ever witnessed.」

When a company withholds a feature from the EU because of the DMA — Apple for AI, Meta today for the fediverse — they should document which sections of the DMA would potentially be violated. Let users fact-check whether there’s a real problem.
