After some work on the garden, I finalized the UI for preferences. Now you can choose, and it will be remembered for all your sessions. This is all handled by a simple web component I made in the process https://github.com/rarous/rarousnet/blob/trunk/www.rarous.net/src/esm/settings-form.js. #themes #preferences #indieweb #webcomponents

Independent website host?
Can anyone recommend an affordable and reliable option to host a static website? I need absolutely nothing fancy; just a vanilla nginx or apache setup with ftp access to drop my files and folders.
Beyond that, my only requirement is that it is a truly independent setup: Not a reseller on behalf of the cloud oligarchies, but a provider with their own hardware and infrastructure.

@chewie shared a very cool extension with me called #StreetPass for #Mastodon. It’s a browser extension that helps you find your people on Mastodon. Testing it now… I’ll report back in a few days after browsing the web as usual. StreetPass will build a list of Mastodon users based on the websites I visit.

@Bsstahl What parts of it do you find a good fit vs not a good fit?
Looked at pre-existing standards for task management? Like the iCal/ CalDav VTODO?
There’s been some brainstorming in the #IndieWeb community, would be great with contributions of findings and ideas: https://indieweb.org/task

Truly baffled by someone who has a kind of About page that links to their various online presences, and the one labelled "blog" takes me to a Substack signup. Whatever else you may think it is, a newsletter is not, on its own, a weblog. At least, not for me.
