If you need ideas on how to monetize your #indieweb or #smolweb site while staying ethical, take a look at my last post.

I think the more we shine a light on indie/bootstrapped apps, the better. So here we are, a list of my favorite indie/bootstrapped apps:
Quite a while ago, I published my blog post about automating my posts to Pixelfed.
I have now done the same for Bluesky (even though I do not fully stand behind the platform).
You can find it here: https://lna-dev.net/en/posts/projects/bluesky-automation/

this will likely be a recurring reminder as the weeks go by, but i'm so excited about this project. i have to share! (this is the first time i've been nervous to announce something on this side of the web!)
i'm combining my 10 years of journalism experience with my love for the #indieweb by launching GOOD INTERNET, a regular periodical magazine in both print and digital formats. and this is a non-profit, completely independent endeavor!
https://goodinternetmagazine.com/
ultimately, Good Internet will cover a lot of different aspects of the small web: unplugging from the corporate web, fighting #enshittification, migrating from data-harvesting corpo social media, creating your own personal website, using code and website-building as an art form, federation, and creating websites for fun. it will be approachable for beginners and enjoyable for seasoned indie web travelers!
the #smallweb can be hard to keep up with if you aren't "plugged in," especially if you want to find other hobby website owners, folks coding for fun, weird web projects, or artists taking back their digital ownership. it's overdue that this side of the web has an analog publication!
having a central publication about the decentralized parts of the personal web makes me even more excited to share this hobby with those who might not even know about it--all within beautiful, high-res, high-quality pages.
the idea here is to have a physical celebration of this hobby in addition to being informative, helpful, and accessible.
consider signing up for email notifications when we launch the first issue in may 2025:

(if you're interested in #writing an article or op-ed about this side of the web/personal websites, coding an interactive article, or want to know what that even means, send an email to hello@goodinternetmagazine.com! taking pitches for may 2025!)

Ooop, I realize this might be a good place to share this: Some months ago I created a "Sky Look Book" for compiling my favorite of my Sky: CotL outfits over the years.
There's only a handful of outfits I've bothered to put up, but I'm sharing this now since there may be more soon!!

I liked Molly White's discussion (www.citationneeded.news/posse/) of the POSSE (publish on your own site, syndicate elsewhere) approach, and I'm planning to continue posting my photos and other stuff on my website and then sharing it here.

POSSE: Reclaiming social media...
Another wonderful contribution to the #IndieWeb Carnival this month. Read Joe’s post and if you have one of your own, let me know—there are still two days to go.

If you're not already following ava's blog you are really missing out. Just an excellent series of posts and thoughts about being online (and lots of other stuff) https://blog.avas.space/ #IndieWeb #Blogging

@whtwnd.com is cool, it can detect if a Whitewind URL was posted in @frontpage.fyi and shows it in the blog post's comment section. Reminds me of #trackback that was replaced by #Webmention.
Thursday will be Front End Study Hall #020 - https://events.indieweb.org/2025/01/front-end-study-hall-020-PJGxETOMne1b - It's a chance to try stuff out! #HTML & #CSS and everything adjacent. Informal Zoom, friendly, from novice to expert. We try to take good notes, lots of #FrontEnd gems linked in https://indieweb.org/Front_End_Study_Hall #IndieWeb
@artlung @vhbelvadi This is good!
I wasn't paying attention to IndieWeb Carnival, but it seems my subconscious was, as my waking thoughts to day were around a next step for one of my two blogs with regards to comments and feedback turning it on. With #IndieWeb components it can be distributed and is distributed, yet listening and aggregating. The blog gets less complicated at the core, but embraces the complexity at the edges.

The process of making my #blog from scratch felt like climbing a rocky hill—I'd never climbed this peak before, but I really really wanted to because I've always wanted to. So I did, but I didn't realize just how ambitious I was being. It felt like the rocky road would never end...but the work I put in early on helped clear the way slowly, and now I'm making a smooth descent to the bottom of the hill.
I'll tell you more once the 7-day countdown to my blog's release begins!
It's late and I'm tired and need to go take my meds, but I've been working on getting a lot of my Notion tasks to sync with Notion Calendar and this is becoming an invaluable asset to maintaining my day job, my personal social media presence, and my business
And it's all made super smooth within Arc, which is still holding strong as my browser of choice

ok just registered my new name domain!
pitch me on an easy way to set up a personal #website with a few links to different articles and my ko-fi
rn I have my domain just forwarding to a linktree, and that works well enough, but I can't change my linktree name, so if I'm gonna have to remake it anyway........
I *like* the idea of #indieweb and I used to know basic HTML/CSS
I am basic at wordpress too, that's what @illmarks is
c'mon fedi i know y'all are nerds <3
January is nearly over but there's still time to respond to the #IndieWebCarnival - this month it's hosted by @vhbelvadi with the prompt of "On The Importance of Fiction." My entry: https://artlung.com/blog/2025/01/28/meditations-on-friction/ #IndieWeb
