Do you remember the time when websites had colors and not just parallax scrolling stock images. I mean... technically parallax scrolling stock images are colors... But, you know what I mean... Real colors, like "let's make the whole background teal" kind of colors.

I've been playing with a new home page design for my site. See it here https://shellsharks.com/home. My classic/current home page can still be found here of course https://shellsharks.com. I'm still tinkering around with it but wanted to see what (if any) thoughts people had. There's definitely some https://www.coryd.dev and https://flamedfury.com inspiration in there (cc: @cory & @flamed ). I like being able to be more creative with it and love the information density, but there's something about the simplicity of the current design that I'm still drawn to. What do you think?

The whole "I won’t switch because all my friends are here" thing is exactly what #bigtech exploit to keep you trapped and force you to put up with their crap. Break that vicious cycle! Seriously, if we all do what we believe is ethically right for ourselves and those around us, we can put an end to this oppression. One step at a time, one person at a time we can improve things.

@ricmac This is part of the bedrock of my belief that the way forward is personal publishing on our own websites, the #Indieweb way. Their tools can't distinguish human written articles from AI slop or from straight up spam so anything of any length is easier to brand as violating "community standards." Of course, these are not standards at all, and they represent no actual human community.
