Taking my online stuff, offline! Recently made a tag on my blog called, Syndicate. All the stuff I wanna syndicate, I just tag it and IFTTT will create an email to a few newspaper editors in my local area and I am Amazed at how many opinion stuff was bought this way. Of course, all the hyperlinks and stuff are stripped, but I wrote these in such a way it makes sense to an offline reader. And plus, new audiences, and if people really wanna see the extra stuff they can just visit my website. #IndieWeb

Just renewed the Libre.fm domain name for another year.

Thank you to everyone who donated in the last year and a big thank you to the people who have a recurring donation.

https://libre.fm/donate.php if anyone wants to chip in.

The main costs right now are a domain name and offsite backups for the data.

Right now our hosting costs are basically $0 but I am looking at getting a pair of dedicated servers to improve performance and that’s going to cost $100 a month or so.

New on #WellMadeWeb: Light From A Dead Star.

The musical fansite is an old genre, and still it lingers in an underground of its own. Light From A Dead Star is such a site dedicated to Lush, the British shoegaze pioneers. The website hosts a trove of resources - hundreds of interviews and thousands of photos - compiled from magazines and press releases during the band's heyday in the early to mid 90s.

Speaking of blogs, you probably don't need me to tell you but if you don't have The Virtual Moose in your RSS reader then you are missing OUT. I have no idea how @MichaelKlamerus has the time and energy to do all these excellent round-up posts but they are EXCELLENT. Please check their blog out (and consider making your own blog and sending me the link so I can add you to my RSS reader too 👀)

Sometimes I wonder if I should stay on topic for my #blog and then I decide to write about my newest unrelated fascination

ReadBeanIceCream Chatter

Sometimes, I have a lot to say. Sometimes, I don't. From now on, when I do not have much to say, but still want to say or share something, I will just add to the Chatter.

This is a good reminder for me to add some more comments into my website's HTML

This is a good reminder for me to add some more comments into my website's HTML

“Let’s build websites that are source-readable by humans and let’s help people learn how to build websites. I believe it will also help us build websites that are using the correct semantic HTML elements, are more accessible and are not just div soup.”

I’d love to get a list of old school bloggers who are still at it. How would you go about that?

Building a list of old school bloggers

@davew After all these years, I think « webrings » and « blogrolls » is still the right answer to that question. Bloggers manually curating lists of other bloggers still feels like the most trustworthy source of inspiration for me.

Just like jumping from one Wikipedia article to another to learn new things can be fun, jumping from one site to another in a webring can be just as fun I think!

As an alternative, Kagi also recently created a « Small Web » list of active bloggers and content creators. I’ve been pretty happy with it. You can browse it here, and access the full list via RSS or an OPML file here.
