I did a little Django proof-of-concept on the fat posts with just Note and Article post types. I wanted to be sure I could have type-specific admin pages before doing the big lift on my site architecture. The key seems to be using proxy models.

does using TiddlyWiki go against the DIY smallweb ethos or am I just overthinking this because I have burnout or something?

I currently use a Github repo to deploy my personal website/blog to Netlify.

I want to move off of Github for all the reasons. I know Codeberg is often recommended, but is it ok for personal websites? I feel like such a use case is maybe beyond its TOS.

Anyone have any insight? #SmallWeb and #IndieWeb folks -- who is using a Git repo somewhere other than Github?

This post is called "Playing the hits": https://nicks.im/posts/2025-playing-the-hits.html

It's about my favorite recent web thing (@hello Crucial Tracks) and slowly figuring out how to mirror an ongoing, updated daily-ish playlist on my own website.

I mention a couple #IndieWeb concepts as well as a little layout stuff using position: sticky in CSS.

I also made some album artwork for my playlist on Apple Music.

Does anyone have recommendations for Chief Operating Officer software dashboards?

to help track tax due dates, vendor lists, contract dates, payment schedules, etc?

I don't even know the best hashtags to use here.

the beautiful independent autonomous open internet

beautiful html websites, gemini capsules, tildeverse, webrings, neocities, lolspaces, selfhosted static sites, builders, constructors, permacomputorers... i love you. every work you put into adding to this slightly forgotten but rediscovered web of independence from enshittified closed garden silos, cherishing inconveniences, text interfaces, frugal computing..., it all adds up to something remarkable. each and every one of you matter! each and every one is important in adding your own tiny little piece into the never-ending hopepunk puzzle-forest. go forth and keep gardening!

A nice person translated my article about Gopher: "Gopher, A Simple Alternative To The Bloatware Of The Web" to french. You can see it at linuxfr.org

I made a small update on my homepage. The photos section (screenshot below) previously was not showing some of the meta information like the syndication links. I added those along with the rest of the h-entry markup so that Bridgy will find the syndication links and send back responses from Bluesky.

A very minor visual update: the β€œAlso on,” author card, published date, and permalink appear now.

I gave Bridgy a nudge to scrape my homepage again and it quickly started sending the responses back to the original post. This IndieWeb stuff really seems like magic, sometimes!

Luke discovers the indie web and discusses the struggle of being out of touch when it seems like most of society exists on facebook rather than the web.
