        "html": "<p><strong>Content warning:</strong>Indieweb rant</p><p>The more I've thought of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webmention\">Webmentions</a> the more I've come to think it will never take off. It's almost a solution searching for a problem. Unless some platforms come into play that support it natively it doesn't seem worth taking on the technical burden of implementation. The only real reason I would want it on my site is if I wanted to be notified another blog post mentioned it, but if the author wanted me to know about it couldn't they just send a quick email rather than submitting a one field form (as which appears to be the most common setup)? Sure this smooths out the UX a bit, but it's really not that much harder for someone to send an email, and another advantage is you're not trying to implement some kind of HTML API either along with some web service that is always up and listening for incoming messages. It just seems ridiculous to think this will ever be a big thing unless blogging platforms end up doing the work for you.</p><p>Don't even get me started on setting up a commenting system with it, people can just POSSE the link to their social media.
