@an0key I also use this library for some purposes. Easy to drop in on a website if it has PHP. https://github.com/Inklings-io/selfauth
Ultimately all about choices and what one is comfortable with! That's the #IndieWeb way to my way of thinking.
Mastodon is expensive to host. Maybe it's better to just go back to the 90s and have static sites.

I want to share a small preview of a redesign for powRSS to make discovery more fun and intuitive.
I am adding a "recently joined" sidebar to the homepage as well as a new retro design!
A design refresh is coming too!
Can't wait to share more details soon 😁
I just read the great post by @bojidar_bg on contacting people on the IndieWeb, and this is exactly the type of interactions we should be striving for!!
While metrics like page views and clicks may matter to some, it's truly the human connection and feedback via e-mail and comments that will strengthen a community even when we are all writing from our own sites.
Check out the post!

Dear fediverse / indieweb, I am trying to figure out if there are easy way for me to count reactions (favorite/boost/replies etc.) of a website link without going through too much troubles.
So far it seems the only viable way is backfeed via bridgy and convert interactions into webmentions, then count it that way?
But I look into bridgy and currently it doesn’t actually count many non-mastodon activitypub servers, I wonder if there are alternatives?

Back to exploring the small/indie web, this time around I'm trying my luck at contacting the small web... over email!

Read for a 3.4K summary of my experience with a number of small-web websites, all in pursuit of one simple question:
- Do people like it when you contact them about stuff they wrote earlier? 😅

Introducing Cornerstone: A WordPress Theme for the IndieWeb
"We believe the world is better when there is not one algorithm deciding what books people should buy, or one algorithm deciding how a website should look. We want the world to mirror our individual idiosyncrasies."

I could use some input from fellow bloggers and slow-roll content creators.
What's the right rate to update my weird indie 35mm scanning photo blog? I am having trouble coming up with a good rhythm.
Here's sort of the problem:
I get the slides at random, as I find them. I currently have a considerable backlog after several successful "hunts"
When I scan the slides in, I tend to do a ton of them all at once. It takes time to set up the scanner and fine tune the input settings to the slide sets I'm working with, so once I've got it in a butter zone I like to bust out a bunch at once. The last big round of scanning, I did a couple hundred slides at one go.
