Just finished @timbl 's great book #ThisIsForEveryone and the chapter on 'Design Issues' really stuck with me. The #web has always been a network full of creativity, enjoyment and collaboration (just think of the #blogosphere in the 2000s), and it's on us to keep this spirit alive. Now I am curious to read some of the more detailed considerations at https://www.w3.org/DesignIssues/

#Zustand integration? Complete. It’s absolutely AMAZING. It will be such a game changer for development.
Now that code refactoring has happened, we can finally move on to doing the site dashboard, and adding support for nested post folders in collections.
Obviously, design refactoring needs to be a thing, but the design is OK enough for now to focus on getting features out the door.
By this rate we could have an alpha release by Christmas! #11tyCMS #11ty #indieweb

Made a weeknote specific Atom feed, Hugo list and archetype templates. Can't wait to start writing those soon after the setup is done; just ironing out the last details...

#Zustand integration is almost fully complete. This is a HUGE deal for #11tyCMS . Already things are so much easier to work with. I think by tomorrow? All of 11tyCMS will be migrated over to Zustand, and it’ll be so much better for it. #11ty #indieweb

I added a chat to my website thanks to https://www.cbox.ws/ 🥰
I was considering comments, but chat seemed more fun and dynamic to me.
I hope it will work as it should; adding it was super easy.

So on this day in 1991 Tim Bernes-Lee published a document proposing HTML tags.
https://www.w3.org/History/19921103-hypertext/hypertext/WWW/MarkUp/Tags.html
Also, randomly the magazine that taught me HTML - ST Format - arrived today.
Weird old coincidence!

Matthias responds to my pondering about the point of “likes” and “shares”:
I like to think of Webmentions not as a measure of popularity. To me, they measure connection. Connection to individual people and connection to the community as a whole. Webmentions let you listen into the constant noise out there and, just like a radio telescope, pick up scarcely audible echoes of connection.

In #astrology, aspects don’t force events. They show possibilities.
I looked at the birth chart of a woman with an artificial leg, and found how Mars-Pluto symbolism from Ebertin’s CSI manifested, but only when the right conditions came.
That’s both good and disappointing news - even good planetary aspects in your #horoscope are not promises, just potentials waiting for the right moment.

Atlas vs The Resonant Computing Manifesto
“Tabs were great, but we haven’t seen a lot of browser innovation since then.” These are brave words spoken by the CEO of a company that’s using Chromium to power their new browser, which, at the time of writing this, they even failed to attribute correctly. I wish I could say I’m shocked, but this is a company led by someone who thinks artists, creators, writers, etc should not be paid for their work.
ChatGPT Atlas isn’t competing against other browsers – Stephanie Stimac’s Blog
I shed a tear. The announcement of atlas is done by people I worked with and respect a lot – Ben Goodger, Darin Fisher. Heck, a whole lot of the firefox team, which then became the chrome team, which is now the atlas team. I know they care about the web, the platform and the openness of it.
In the long arc, maybe I am the anachronistic one, still retaining a sense of what the web should be and not fully accepting what it is?
This is also saddening because the web is in an era of renaissance. Almost every “desktop” app you run is running on web technologies. And desktop has an entire renaissance thanks to AI technologies.
It’s a moment to lean into what makes the web great.
I still retain hope. There are some amazing people coming together with the same ethos with which we approached the web platform in the heydays of chrome.
https://resonantcomputing.org
I am a signatory. This is a hopeful venture that I want to support and it deeply resonates with how I think and want computing to evolve. I believe that chrome will be supplanted someday by a better browser. However, it will be one that deeply wants the web to succeed. I am eagerly waiting for it and my suspicion right now is that it’s not Atlas. ymmv
