A thoughtful post today from Laurens Hof in the Fediverse Report about Mastodon’s new CEO and the project’s sustainability. It’ll be interesting to look back a year from now on whether there are visible changes. Hope in the meantime that Eugen Rochko gets some rest and a vacation or two.

What do you do when you want to read books but nothing seems interesting enough?

Having minimally built https://xmit.co https://onclebob.com I'm thinking about the rest of the static web authoring experience, particularly around #11ty, and realize I know very little of its ecosystem. Are there project bootstrap(per)s? Abstractions for templates and/or themes? Web admins/editors, maybe with something akin to https://stackedit.io/ and a live iframe preview? The more I find the less I build. A goal for myself: have something my family finds pleasant to use to build (at least) microsites. Still a long way to go on many fronts. #indieweb

I think this will be popular. Will make it free for everyone, not locked down in a premium feature.

Surely some of you want to try Pagecord? Stop faffing about with that static site that you never post to. Pagecord will make you blog more!

Ok ok, I give in. I've relented. The forces of capitalism are too strong for my weak mind. And I could really do with the business.

If you're considering Pagecord Premium and you'd like a Black Friday offer to seal the deal, here you go https://blog.pagecord.com/black-friday-special-offer-for-pagecord-premium

Soupault 5.2.0 is out: https://soupault.net/blog/soupault-5.2.0-release/
It fixes a major regression that broke auto-generated pages (those generated by index processors) if they were to be saved to a directory that didn't already exist (thanks to Yiming Xiang for pointing that out).
It also adds a new plugin function: Sys.strip_extension()

Hey if you're after a new years reso, can i pitch: make an online diary.

At the end of the year you can gather everything up into a stats page and it feels really nice.

**“The Haunted Lighthouse Ltd is officially lit.
A small, quiet corner of the internet — built slowly, run properly, and always privacy-first.

Hosting, open-source infrastructure, and calm social spaces from our Manx outpost.

More soon. The beacon is on.

"500 Colours" has been one of my favourite little web resources for years. It's just a list of colours, but if you have a vague idea of what colours you want to use, this can really help to solidify that idea.

Got the next part of this working.
Documents can be made and versioned, they update anywhere you plug them in.

And you can add an 'element' to a document. You can also add many elements to one document,.

So if you had something like oh this update is important you add the element, make the connection to the document and it does all the other work anywhere that plugin is located.

As part of my efforts to keep all my online data under one proverbial roof, I've added a reading log to my website complement my #BookWyrm account. Also added some old #book reviews I published a few years back:
