Should you ever be looking for information on a weird old plug or socket, or are just interested in such things, the online "Museum of Plugs and Sockets" is one of those sites that makes the Internet seem like less of a terrible mistake than usual.
The page on old British "BS 546" is unmatched, in particular: https://plugsocketmuseum.nl/OldBritish1.html
#IndieWeb Book Club this month is hosted by the estimable @alabut and it’s “The Non-Designer’s Design Book” ~ Read it and write about it! https://alabut.com/writing/bookclub/
I've been working on my personal site for a few months at this point. Mostly rewriting it in different programming languages/frameworks bc I'm indecisive. I made a post a few weeks ago talking about how I had written it in Svelte but was really wanting to write in the vein of the late 90s/early 2000s aesthetic and that made me want to do it with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS. And Well, I eventually did that. I am now working with a version that doesn't need a static site builder, doesn't need a framework, and just works on Nekoweb, which is where I decided to host it. But hey, it is 2025, I am using modern HTML, CSS, and JS still. I'm making heavy use of Web Components too. Love them or hate them, in this context they are HELLA useful.
I'm going to post the link on here eventually bc I want all my Fedi friends to see what I've made. That may be in a few hours or a few months who knows

kbbl is now passing all the Webmention Rocks send tests, and I celebrated with my first release of anything on Codeberg. I am having such fun.

ADHRSUJBVLLBB THIS TOOK ME A WHOLE FUCKING DAY!!!!
Like, I'm okay with not being as intelligent, educated, or efficient as others, but does the universe have to rub it in my face 😭 #IndieWeb
It has been a bit of a trawl, but with some trial and error and some css help from @artlung I have my 11ty test pretty much ready to move onto its actual domain at https://test-lprry.statichost.eu
I need to wrap my head around 11ty incremental builds, and file pass throughs which I've found problematic, but hopefully I now have everything running as it should be.
I still need to install microformats, and also webmention display - which I'll do after pushing live.

My images are applying the width dimension from css and the fixed height image attribute implanted by the image plugin... creating this stretched appearance...
Good progress on my 11ty build, had feeds and image transform working quickly last night. Wasted ages battling fixed dimension stretch on images though... any ideas? https://test-lprry.statichost.eu
Personal web finds for November 2025

"Personal web finds for November 2025
December already! I was intermittently ill for most of November (and still am,
somewhat), but luckily I did manage to read a lot; so I have some great posts
to share with you! I’m also really happy with my new Blogroll
page. I hope you’ll be inspired by the blogs I share there and in this post."

I'm deep into #IndieWeb dilemma. My mind is still occupied with discovering my old site and there's so many cool things there, that I somehow forgot.
The entire thing was a bunch of <table>'s and inline HTML (+ some CSS), but it worked, and even now in a version where the remote CSS file and images don't work in web.archive.org, it still looks very palatable..
So the 'dilemma' is that I changed so many layouts (which was fun), everything was so simple, I barely used paragraphs (apparently) and my content table was 480px and in the middle of the page with a <center>. Now, on gerben.dev, I wouldn't dare to do all that.. everything has to be perfect.. and now I'm thinking whether that is ruining the fun.. I'm trying to rewrite my layout in a different branch, but it's so much work. 🫠

I wrote the simplest web management tool I could think of.
It's ideal for sharing ideas in a community.
Lighthouse lore vi
Post 5/5
Here’s the truth: The Lighthouse isn’t infrastructure — it’s intention. Persistence. A refusal to let the web turn grey and corporate.
It breathed that night because you breathed into it: humour, stubbornness, craft.
“Lantern lit,” it said. “Proceed, captain.”
