Well put: “To conclude this wrapup of my #indieweb experience in 2025: more than ever, I still regard the open web as my online home. There are communities I feel like I belong to within it — like the 'open social' community, the Mastodon community, the Eleventy community, etc. Maybe there will eventually be a Cybercultural community! Not saying it's the boring part of Boxing Day but I've made a "Now" page on my personal blog this evening https://www.rhyswynne.co.uk/now

One of our Waf neighborhood admins made a forum for creative community: https://forums.vaguely.art/

It has spots for all kinds of creative works, including digital, traditional, music, food, and more. I'm on there (wolfwalks), you should join me!

Goal for 2026: find an inexpensive solution for remote blogging when I’m visiting family and far away from my desktop computer. I love Jekyll so much, but the fact that I can’t use it on my tablet is definitely an annoyance!

The #IndieWebCarnival is underway as always and there’s about a week left if you’d like to contribute to this month’s theme: share your thoughts on the future you see (or hope) for the #IndieWeb.

I am exploring an idea for a Sovereign Social Protocol. A way to rethink social media around user ownership, decentralised Identity, and freedom from algorithmic control and surveillance. This is about rebuilding social spaces with autonomy and trust at the core.

I've been really going down a rabbit hole of reading about the 90s/00s internet. I think the reason it is so interesting to me is to see what I perceive as a loss, the fact that the Internet has become so centralized to a handful of sites and has largely lost a lot of personality and individuality.

It's why I've been hard at work perfecting my own personal site, because I want to contribute to bringing that type of environment to the modern internet. I love looking through sites on
Nekoweb and Neocities because it gives that same feeling.

I saw a site the other day that had a page of interesting links the site owner had found, and I think I am going to start doing something like that on mine. Just a little place to gather cool or interesting stuff I find. Hopefully someone that goes to my site can jump off and find other interesting sites and keep the sense of exploration alive.
