I enjoy these posts and I agree with most of his predictions for 2026.</p>\n<p>But there is one prediction that I think is too optimistic:</p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The ActivityPub Fediverse (excluding Threads) will cross 15 million registered users, monthly active users [\u2026] will plateau around 2-3 million. Another good year in terms of stable base, but no big waves of new users. Both Bluesky and Fediverse growth won\u2019t come from big waves of migration this year.</p>\n</blockquote>\n<p>To put this in context, according to <a href=\"https://fedidb.com/\">FediDB</a> the current count of registered users is just short of 12 million. It has grown about 1 million users in each of the last couple of years. I know from Micro.blog\u2019s contribution to these numbers that there are also spam accounts and other junk that has yet to be cleaned out, but still I think these numbers are mostly correct.</p>\n<p>You can see this steady, slow growth in total users from this FediDB graph:</p>\n<img src=\"https://cdn.uploads.micro.blog/10/2025/paste-b15fb63f.png\" alt=\"A graph displays user and server growth over time, showing stable user numbers and a slight increase in servers, with a 30-day user decline of 60.4K and server growth of 4.3K.\" style=\"max-width:500px;\" /><p>The problem is active users.         "html": "<p>My gift for myself this holiday is diving into uncharted territory\u2014figuring how to setup a <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/Micropub\">#<span>Micropub</span></a> server for my <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/Hugo\">#<span>Hugo</span></a> site. Think I'm ready to enter the next step of <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/Indieweb\">#<span>Indieweb</span></a> integration!</p><p>All the new stuff I came across: <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/NodeJS\">#<span>NodeJS</span></a>, Vercel/Render, Micropub, <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/MongoDB\">#<span>MongoDB</span></a>, npm (I did use npx before).</p><p>I successfully got the <a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/tags/Indiekit\">#<span>Indiekit</span></a> endpoints working\u2014didn't think I could do it...\ud83e\udd29 Now upgrading my Hugo templates to accept the new Micropub content.
