        "html": "<p>And now it\u2019s time for my traditional annual wrap-up post, and my hopes for next year.</p>\n\n\n<h3><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/7591-2025-%F0%9F%94%9C-2026#7591_h3_1_2025-checkup\"></a>2025 checkup</h3><p>How did I do with my <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/11031-2024-%E2%86%92-2025\">stated aspirations for this year</a>?</p>\n<ul><li>Music\n\n<ul><li>I indeed did <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/album/strawberry-jelly-9\">a bunch of music for Strawberry Jam 9</a>, and got a job as a result of it, so the \u201cpaid soundtrack work\u201d point happened! Yay!</li>\n<li>I made no progress at all on Recombinant and Maximum Coverage</li>\n<li>I made a little progress on Misfits</li>\n<li>Also not mentioned but I have an idea for a jazz album which I also haven\u2019t done anything on</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Home\n\n<ul><li>I made <em>some</em> progress on the workshop area (by replacing the old janky workbenches with new, decent ones with actual storage space) but it\u2019s overall worse off than before</li>\n<li>Tool cabinet is a nightmare, and I still don\u2019t have a garden shed or greenshouse</li>\n<li>I did improve the organization in my living room</li>\n<li>I made no progress on my office</li>\n<li>And I did not get rid of the clutter</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Arts and Crafts\n\n<ul><li>No progress on pottery</li>\n<li>I did sell some stuff on Etsy but I eventually shut down that shop because it was frustrating to maintain for how little traffic I got on it; I set up a shop on Artisans Coop but I haven\u2019t done much with it yet</li>\n<li>I did not do any comics</li>\n<li>I did not do any VRChat avatars aside from making some edits to <a href=\"https://fluffy.itch.io/critter-avatar\">the critter</a></li>\n<li>I don\u2019t even remember what the other art projects were, but I didn\u2019t do any of them, whatever they are</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Programming\n\n<ul><li>Publ is still running on PonyORM and Misaka :(</li>\n<li>The Bandcrash UI is still a major pain point</li>\n<li>Bluesky OAuth is still not at a point where it\u2019d work well with Publ/Authl (the problem is on Bluesky\u2019s end)</li>\n<li>And I\u2019m still using Webmention+Isso and have done no work on fixing that either</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Health\n\n<ul><li>Vertigo\u2019s better and <em>mostly</em> under control, but over the course of 2025 I came to realize it was more a fatigue issue than a vertigo issue that keeps me from driving</li>\n<li>And I still don\u2019t feel comfortable driving, although I replaced my piece of shit modern EV with a perfect beautiful 2008 Toyota shitbox</li>\n<li>Pain management still eludes me; my least-bad option is still just getting high and turning into a lump on the couch (which I\u2019m not doing as often, at least). I also tried a few psilocybin-based approaches, none of which turned out to be helpful</li>\n<li>I do think I\u2019ve gotten better at, as I put it, \u201cacknowledging when things have gone well in the moment, being better at controlling the things I\u2019m able to, and more accepting about the things I can\u2019t,\u201d but I still have a long ways to go (but it\u2019s a process and a journey, not an endpoint)</li>\n</ul></li>\n</ul><h3><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/7591-2025-%F0%9F%94%9C-2026#7591_h3_2_Productivity-stats-wins\"></a>Productivity(?) stats/wins</h3><p>Here\u2019s some random highlights for consideration:</p>\n<ul><li>This website:\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/everything?date=2025\">Over 120 new posts</a>, of which most were blog posts but there were a few non-bloggy things, and a bunch of the blog posts could have probably been articles anyway</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li><a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/\">Music</a>:\n\n<ul><li>2 <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/releases/\">releases</a> (<a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/track/the-war-machine\">The War Machine</a> and <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/album/strawberry-jelly-9\">strawberry jelly :9</a>)</li>\n<li>37 <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/blog/\">blog posts</a></li>\n<li>33 <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/live/\">scheduled live shows</a> (as well as several shows/performances that weren\u2019t on the schedule for various reasons)</li>\n<li>11 <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNRLpYEdwBNgZMOTh0QcFehYyeWpa6QD1\">Novembeat tracks</a></li>\n<li>Revamped the way I tagged my releases and fully tagged 89% of the entries with genres, instruments, and moods</li>\n<li>Finally put a <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/releases/?tag=collection:CD\">bunch of my music on CD</a> again</li>\n<li>Got <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/releases/?tag=collection:vinyl\">some of my music on vinyl</a>(!!)</li>\n<li>Removed all of Sockpuppet\u2019s music (except <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/track/the-war-machine\">the anti-streaming song</a>) from streaming; maybe it\u2019ll come back someday but I just don\u2019t want to deal with it</li>\n<li>Revamped the <a href=\"https://youtube.com/@realfakesockpuppet\">YouTube channel</a> and got a bunch more subscribers and watch time as a result</li>\n<li>Wrote some more music for <a href=\"https://transacademy.org/\">Trans Academy</a> (not all of it has made it to the public yet but that which has is on my <a href=\"https://sockpuppet.band/clients/1270-Trans-Academy\">client portfolio page</a>)</li>\n<li>Got hired to work on a game (and have made a bunch of music for it)</li>\n<li>Three <a href=\"https://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php?key=sockpuppet\">Song Fight! entries</a> (the third will appear on my archive page sometime next year when <a href=\"https://songfight.org/songpage.php?key=one_minute\">the current fight</a> wraps up)</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Software projects:\n\n<ul><li>Initiated a <a href=\"https://github.com/PlaidWeb/Canimus/\">federated music streaming project</a> which is slowly picking up interest</li>\n<li>Built an <a href=\"https://github.com/fluffy-critter/ai-tarpit/\">AI tarpit</a> which is happily plugging away and clogging poorly-written AI scraper bots to the tune of a few hundred hits per second, mwahahaha</li>\n<li>Did some more work on <a href=\"https://publ.beesbuzz.biz/\">Publ</a></li>\n<li>Did <em>a lot</em> more work on <a href=\"https://fluffy.itch.io/bandcrash\">Bandcrash</a></li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Home:\n\n<ul><li>Reorganized my living room</li>\n<li>Got my house painted (it\u2019s purple now)</li>\n<li>Finally got my basement/studio rodent-proofed (I am sure there are some rodents already in there, possibly deceased, though, but it\u2019s a heckin' mess)</li>\n<li>Improved the workbench situation in my basement as well</li>\n</ul></li>\n</ul><h3><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/7591-2025-%F0%9F%94%9C-2026#7591_h3_3_Setbacks\"></a>Setbacks</h3>\n<ul><li>Fell out of favor with a couple of friend groups who each felt Very Important to me but it turned out they weren\u2019t, but I\u2019m still processing the loss all the same</li>\n<li>Had a minor hormonal crisis, and still haven\u2019t gotten that quite resolved due to supply chain issues with HRT</li>\n<li>Had to take a break from my choir due to some interpersonal issues that led to burnout</li>\n</ul><h3><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/7591-2025-%F0%9F%94%9C-2026#7591_h3_4_Aspirations-for-2026\"></a>Aspirations for 2026</h3>\n<ul><li>Publ:\n\n<ul><li>Finally replace <a href=\"https://pypi.org/project/misaka/\">Misaka</a> with <a href=\"https://pypi.org/project/mistune\">Mistune</a>, which is <a href=\"https://github.com/PlaidWeb/Publ/issues/261\"><em>long</em> overdue</a> (in fact I\u2019ve been meaning to do this for nearly as long as Publ\u2019s been a project)</li>\n<li>Improve media embedding (which would be better to do after the Mistune migration)</li>\n<li>Make the site indexer not so janky and blocking, especially for full-text search (and maybe switch to a different full-text search implementation, although FWIW according to my server stats very few actual search queries are ever made on-site)</li>\n<li>Maybe revamp the docs as well, <a href=\"https://publ.beesbuzz.biz/\">the site</a> is kind of awful</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Canimus:\n\n<ul><li>Write a receiver and player</li>\n<li>Write a personal collection server</li>\n<li>Work with other stakeholders to get more publishers on board (particularly <a href=\"https://simonrepp.com/faircamp/\">Faircamp</a>, <a href=\"https://mirlo.space/\">Mirlo</a>, <a href=\"https://bandwagon.fm/\">Bandwagon</a>, and <a href=\"https://subvert.fm/\">Subvert</a>), and maybe use that as an encouragement to get more subscribers on board as well (especially <a href=\"https://theindiebeat.fm/\">The Indie Beat</a> and <a href=\"https://www.funkwhale.audio/\">Funkwhale</a>)</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Music:\n\n<ul><li>Release a couple more albums (<em>so</em> many projects on the backburner\u2026)</li>\n<li>Figure out a non-frustrating way of getting my stuff back on streaming (I mean, aside from Canimus, where it already is, and which nobody actually uses yet)</li>\n<li>Rejoin the choir</li>\n<li>Finish the game OST</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Home:\n\n<ul><li>Finally get my basement/studio fully organized</li>\n<li>Finally get my office organized</li>\n<li>Finally get my dining room organized</li>\n<li>Get my carport tidied up and possibly organized</li>\n<li>Donate/sell a whole bunch of excess stuff that I no longer need and probably never needed to begin with</li>\n<li>Build a garden shed or greenhouse or something</li>\n</ul></li>\n<li>Personal:\n\n<ul><li>Get comfortable driving again, ideally after figuring out where the fatigue/vertigo is coming from</li>\n<li>Rebuild my social life</li>\n<li>Get back into making comics</li>\n<li>Finally set up a shop for my pottery and start making that again too (has it really been a year and a half since I made any?!)</li>\n</ul></li>\n</ul><p><a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/7591-2025-%F0%9F%94%9C-2026#comments\">comments</a></p>\n\n        \n        <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/?id=7591&amp;tag=resolutions\">#resolutions</a>\n        \n        <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/?id=7591&amp;tag=not-resolutions\">#not resolutions</a>\n        \n        <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/?id=7591&amp;tag=aspirations\">#aspirations</a>\n        \n        <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/?id=7591&amp;tag=goals\">#goals</a>\n        \n        <a href=\"http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/?id=7591&amp;tag=reflections\">#reflections</a>",

Yay!\nI made no progress at all on Recombinant and Maximum Coverage\nI made a little progress on Misfits\nAlso not mentioned but I have an idea for a jazz album which I also haven\u2019t done anything on\n\nHome\n\nI made some progress on the workshop area (by replacing the old janky workbenches with new, decent ones with actual storage space) but it\u2019s overall worse off than before\nTool cabinet is a nightmare, and I still don\u2019t have a garden shed or greenshouse\nI did improve the organization in my living room\nI made no progress on my office\nAnd I did not get rid of the clutter\n\nArts and Crafts\n\nNo progress on pottery\nI did sell some stuff on Etsy but I eventually shut down that shop because it was frustrating to maintain for how little traffic I got on it; I set up a shop on Artisans Coop but I haven\u2019t done much with it yet\nI did not do any comics\nI did not do any VRChat avatars aside from making some edits to the critter\nI don\u2019t even remember what the other art projects were, but I didn\u2019t do any of them, whatever they are\n\nProgramming\n\nPubl is still running on PonyORM and Misaka :(\nThe Bandcrash UI is still a major pain point\nBluesky OAuth is still not at a point where it\u2019d work well with Publ/Authl (the problem is on Bluesky\u2019s end)\nAnd I\u2019m still using Webmention+Isso and have done no work on fixing that either\n\nHealth\n\nVertigo\u2019s better and mostly under control, but over the course of 2025 I came to realize it was more a fatigue issue than a vertigo issue that keeps me from driving\nAnd I still don\u2019t feel comfortable driving, although I replaced my piece of shit modern EV with a perfect beautiful 2008 Toyota shitbox\nPain management still eludes me; my least-bad option is still just getting high and turning into a lump on the couch (which I\u2019m not doing as often, at least). I also tried a few psilocybin-based approaches, none of which turned out to be helpful\nI do think I\u2019ve gotten better at, as I put it, \u201cacknowledging when things have gone well in the moment, being better at controlling the things I\u2019m able to, and more accepting about the things I can\u2019t,\u201d but I still have a long ways to go (but it\u2019s a process and a journey, not an endpoint)\n\nProductivity(?) stats/winsHere\u2019s some random highlights for consideration:\nThis website:\n\nOver 120 new posts, of which most were blog posts but there were a few non-bloggy things, and a bunch of the blog posts could have probably been articles anyway\n\nMusic:\n\n2 releases (The War Machine and strawberry jelly :9)\n37 blog posts\n33 scheduled live shows (as well as several shows/performances that weren\u2019t on the schedule for various reasons)\n11 Novembeat tracks\nRevamped the way I tagged my releases and fully tagged 89% of the entries with genres, instruments, and moods\nFinally put a bunch of my music on CD again\nGot some of my music on vinyl(!!)\nRemoved all of Sockpuppet\u2019s music (except the anti-streaming song) from streaming; maybe it\u2019ll come back someday but I just don\u2019t want to deal with it\nRevamped the YouTube channel and got a bunch more subscribers and watch time as a result\nWrote some more music for Trans Academy (not all of it has made it to the public yet but that which has is on my client portfolio page)\nGot hired to work on a game (and have made a bunch of music for it)\nThree Song Fight! entries (the third will appear on my archive page sometime next year when the current fight wraps up)\n\nSoftware projects:\n\nInitiated a federated music streaming project which is slowly picking up interest\nBuilt an AI tarpit which is happily plugging away and clogging poorly-written AI scraper bots to the tune of a few hundred hits per second, mwahahaha\nDid some more work on Publ\nDid a lot more work on Bandcrash\n\nHome:\n\nReorganized my living room\nGot my house painted (it\u2019s purple now)\nFinally got my basement/studio rodent-proofed (I am sure there are some rodents already in there, possibly deceased, though, but it\u2019s a heckin' mess)\nImproved the workbench situation in my basement as well\n\nSetbacks\nFell out of favor with a couple of friend groups who each felt Very Important to me but it turned out they weren\u2019t, but I\u2019m still processing the loss all the same\nHad a minor hormonal crisis, and still haven\u2019t gotten that quite resolved due to supply chain issues with HRT\nHad to take a break from my choir due to some interpersonal issues that led to burnout\nAspirations for 2026\nPubl:\n\nFinally replace Misaka with Mistune, which is long overdue (in fact I\u2019ve been meaning to do this for nearly as long as Publ\u2019s been a project)\nImprove media embedding (which would be better to do after the Mistune migration)\nMake the site indexer not so janky and blocking, especially for full-text search (and maybe switch to a different full-text search implementation, although FWIW according to my server stats very few actual search queries are ever made on-site)\nMaybe revamp the docs as well, the site is kind of awful\n\nCanimus:\n\nWrite a receiver and player\nWrite a personal collection server\nWork with other stakeholders to get more publishers on board (particularly Faircamp, Mirlo, Bandwagon, and Subvert), and maybe use that as an encouragement to get more subscribers on board as well (especially The Indie Beat and Funkwhale)\n\nMusic:\n\nRelease a couple more albums (so many projects on the backburner\u2026)\nFigure out a non-frustrating way of getting my stuff back on streaming (I mean, aside from Canimus, where it already is, and which nobody actually uses yet)\nRejoin the choir\nFinish the game OST\n\nHome:\n\nFinally get my basement/studio fully organized\nFinally get my office organized\nFinally get my dining room organized\nGet my carport tidied up and possibly organized\nDonate/sell a whole bunch of excess stuff that I no longer need and probably never needed to begin with\nBuild a garden shed or greenhouse or something\n\nPersonal:\n\nGet comfortable driving again, ideally after figuring out where the fatigue/vertigo is coming from\nRebuild my social life\nGet back into making comics\nFinally set up a shop for my pottery and start making that again too (has it really been a year and a half since I made any?!)\n\ncomments\n\n        \n        #resolutions\n        \n        #not resolutions\n        \n        #aspirations\n        \n        #goals\n        \n        #reflections"
