THE COVETED GREEN CHECK MARK!! ✅
this also means that... I have successfully moved hosting providers!! 🎉
and my new (paid) provider is of course *not* blocking verification requests.
I ran into some configuration issues initially, but beyond those, it was a remarkably smooth process! I'm glad I pulled the trigger. No it's not free hosting, but it is Canadian, and MUCH faster.
I plan on writing up a more detailed blog post Soon! ™️
WEB DAY! A week from Saturday, on Jan 24th, 2-5pm, Albina Library Rm 2A.
Last time, we discovered how to play ANY Flash game from our childhoods and shared our nostalgic 2 player experiences together on one keyboard. Magical.
Then we surfed web rings, fed digital pets, and explored historic Portland data maps. What will we do this time at WEB DAY? Come find out!

Like most of us, I’ve been re-thinking my relationship with my phone. Because it suuuuucks.
I started a new section of my blog this year, for non-music-related posts. This is my second ever entry:
The Anxiety Machine: your phone does bad magic
I’ve published a new piece on free vs paid email — not a “which is best” take, but a look at incentives, lock-in, support, and long-term control.

Some Social Cheat Codes
How an timid, introverted recluse learned to enjoy talking to people.
There’s never been a better time to learn a little about nearly everything in web technology. 2026 will be a year for generalists and new tools that span platforms. And yet I see folks on the fediverse who have strong opinions about Bluesky without really understanding why it exists or how it works.
