What do centuries-old stones, a self-winding watch and child's sock have in common?
Such time capsules often hide in our cupboards: lost treasures, family heirlooms, old diaries or dry pressed flowers. It is not their monetary value that matters, but the stories they tell.
After reading similar posts from @AlexWolfe, @daj and @hryggrbyr, I started to think of my own list.

Crossed my path on #powRSS:
I've written a little script for the @powRSS account to find posts from the Random section on the site.
The idea is to bring visibility to older blogs which may not have published recently.
This in turn means you can now follow powRSS in your #RSS reader for the occasional low frequency dip into #indieweb discovery.

TL;DR: We lost Catsby, which sucks completely. 3D printing experiments with glow-in-the-dark filament and blacklight LEDs. Discovered Pangolin for homelab tunnel magic. Pondering SID chip replacements for the C64. Brief flirtations with Animal Crossing and Persona 5. Links about woodworking, AI slop, silicon ice age nightmares, and other assorted topics.

Digital Self-Reliance: Audio Edition
As we continue to move into 2026, I want to talk about my continued journey towards digital self-reliance. This time, I am focusing on my audio needs.

Hey San Diego, let's website together! https://artlung.com/blog/2026/01/23/hwc-sandiego-iv/ #IndieWeb
Good analysis from Laurens Hofs on ICE getting a verified badge on Bluesky and the resulting fallout. It underscores some confusion in the fediverse about what Bluesky is:
When fediverse users say they don’t want to be bridged to Bluesky, they’re applying an ActivityPub mental model to ATProto infrastructure. In one sense this is a bit of a category error, the bridge connects to networking infrastructure, not the application.
He doesn’t let Bluesky off the hook either, though. Good points on how ICE presence alone (without any posts) is a fear tactic.
New post is out. Check it out and share with friends!

Great slides by Arjun on the importance of writing as a student of design (and tech!). arjunmakesthings.github.io/presentation...

Someone just donated to goingdark.social for the first time.
I'm not gonna lie. running this instance takes work. Infrastructure doesn't maintain itself, storage costs money, and keeping things running smoothly isn't always easy.
This made my whole week. Thank you @lor, seriously. 🙌

Success! I got my website configured to post to the Fediverse. I was previously doing POSSE (Post on your Own Site Sindicate Elsewhere) via RSS and Azure Logic Apps, that was just posting links to posts on my website and I had to run a separate Mastodon server. Now, the post itself is a Note in the Fediverse and my website itself is a node on the Fediverse. That means I should be able to get rid of my Mastodon instance. Since it was a single-user instance, this solution works just as well if not better. It's a bit hacky for now but I got it working by stitching together Azure Functions APIs in Azure Static Web Apps and cron jobs using GitHub Actions.
Here's what a recent post looks like in the Mastodon timeline.
