Last year I came across a 2000s style internet forum that was style maintained, it seemed like its modertators were intentionally trying to maintain the old school asthethic with cheeky emojis and flashing colors. but I can't find it anymore.

if anyone knows what I'm talking about please let me know.

Jatan Mehta on exploring where to host his fediverse presence, from Mastodon to Ghost to Micro.blog. Whenever I read something like this, it reaffirms our decision to take a quieter approach to the social web. Less counting, less noise.

Logan Land blogging about IndiePub, in the same spirit as IndieWeb and POSSE but expanding to self-published books and other things too:

Now we鈥檙e facing something new, with the rise of AI-generated content, these platforms are becoming saturated with noise. Human authenticity is at a premium.

Thanks Warner. Appreciate it. Looks good. #IndieWeb #Blog #RSS

If I have any fans out there, could I ask a favor? Can you check out my website and leave me a nice review. It should be fairly painless, but I mainly want to see if it is working properly. Tell me if you have any trouble or if it feels intuitive and straightforward. #IndieWeb #Blog #RSS https://www.davidtoddmccarty.com/

IndieAuth is now live on Jottit. Every site gets an authorization endpoint, so you can use your Jottit URL to sign in anywhere that supports it. Still early, still testing, expect bugs :) #indieweb

Building open infrastructure for the web is important work. It's also work that nobody quite knows how to pay for. I wrote about my own experience figuring this out with Jottit. https://simonbc.com/blog/2026-02-05-how-do-you-fund-the-open-web/ #indieweb

Building something I wish existed: a way to prove a document existed at a specific time, without ever uploading it anywhere.

Client-side hashing, blockchain timestamp, document stays on your device.

Curious if this resonates with anyone here. What would you use it for?

The page on my personal website that *I* visit most often is probably my list of recipes. I use it as my kitchen notebook. I really do prepare these on a regular basis and will often tweak them over time.

I reference the list before shopping to help me come up with a meal plan. I open a recipe on my phone during cooking. There are draft pages for recipes I'm not happy with yet. And while it's quite personal, and I imagine not very useful to other people, I like having it on my website. It keeps me using the space.

Had another fun night where I'm wide awake at 3 am, so I decided to finally start integrating Webmentions into my blog.

Thanks to Brid.gy and Webmention.io, the number of Mastodon favorites on my last blog post (https://kat5.dev/blog/2026/boredom) now appear at the bottom.

My next task is going to be showing the Mastodon avatars and Webmention sources instead of the counter.

I realize I'm sort of reinventing the wheel here, when plenty of static site generators can do this already, but it's neat to build my own solution from scratch.

At today's #IndieWeb Homebrew Website Club: Pacific online meeting, we discussed how to track books and reading habits.

Some people, like Nick, tracks books manually: https://social.lol/@nsmsn/115824912511030742

And others like @joel uses #Bookwyrm + a manual blog page https://joelchrono.xyz/bookshelf

I'm also considering using Bookwyrm and restart my book tracking.
